Re: Stadium thread
If it is true, does it make things a done deal? What does it mean?
The Devil whispered in the Viking's ear, "There's a storm coming." The Viking replied, "I am the storm." #SKOL2018

Re: Stadium thread
I can't find any other source for this, just King reporting it during tonight's GB vs. Chi game. King seems like a credible reporter though, not one to report shakey speculation and whatnot. Fingers crossed
For sure there will be more news in the next couple of days. C'moooooon Arden Hills

Nothing's a done deal until the papers are signed. Keep your eyes peeled for news forthcoming.PurpleMustReign wrote:If it is true, does it make things a done deal? What does it mean?

Re: Stadium thread
More and more, I'm getting the feeling that we're watching the last days of the Minnesota Vikings. Maybe one more season in Minny, and then *pfffft* - gone.

Peter King says more in his weekly MMQB column for SI:

Including this:

Including this:
And this:Last week, a source with knowledge of the Vikings stadium situation told me it's not a matter of if, but when the club and state officials finish negotiations to build a stadium at one of three sites.
About six weeks ago, NFL CFO Eric Grubman went to Minnesota not to badger local politicians and the governor but to state a fact: If they waited until after the season to hammer out a deal with the Vikings, they'd risk losing control of the decision-making process. The implication was clear: The Wilf Family is not from Minnesota, and ownership had already pledged $425 million to the stadium effort, and if that wasn't going to be good enough to get a deal done, the family might have to look elsewhere.

While you cannot take most reporting at face value, this is the most positive news I have heard in a long time. I think something will get done.Eli wrote:More and more, I'm getting the feeling that we're watching the last days of the Minnesota Vikings. Maybe one more season in Minny, and then *pfffft* - gone.
A Randy Moss fan for life. A Kevin Williams fan for life.
Re: Stadium thread
I dunno. I think if something doesn't get done quickly, a move would happen before next season. Why play a lame duck season if you don't have to?Eli wrote:Maybe one more season in Minny

I think this is right. Word in LA is the NFL has been quietly negotiating with the Rose Bowl as a temporary home of an NFL team. Rose Bowl in midst of extensive and expensive renovations may cause Pasadena leaders to sign up. NFL is prepared to support the move if Minnesota drops out by refusing to pony up.glg wrote: I dunno. Re: Stadium thread
i keep hearing more and more it will be the chargers, rams, or raiders moving. peter king doubts very much that the vikings will leave minnesota.

Re: Stadium thread
That's the word on the street. Don't like seeing any team move away...but I hope it's not the Vikings no matter what.hibbingviking wrote:i keep hearing more and more it will be the chargers, rams, or raiders moving. peter king doubts very much that the vikings will leave minnesota.

No word yet on specifics of funding. No word ever on what legislature will pony up/allow. Signs pointing strongly to behind the scenes agreements. To some extent, I will withhold elation until the final deal is announced.hibbingviking wrote:i keep hearing more and more it will be the chargers, rams, or raiders moving. peter king doubts very much that the vikings will leave minnesota.

@andersonj (Vikings VP of Corporate Communications Jeff Anderson) said via Twitter today: Vikes took note of King's report, no agreement is imminent, and that the team is optimistic a stadium agreement will be reached to keep the team in MN.
The cynic in me says someone may be using King as a conduit to get the issue more on the front burner. Especially with the Grubman non-threat threat in MMQB.

Re: Stadium thread
What could work here is to have the Vikes play one year in the Rose Bowl and show Minnesota what they will be losing and see if there is enough interest in LA for football. Then let the Vikes return to Minnesota and move the Jags into LA.

Would never happen. If they moved, they would not come back.Knoxx wrote:What could work here is to have the Vikes play one year in the Rose Bowl and show Minnesota what they will be losing and see if there is enough interest in LA for football.
