Re: Stadium thread
Is anyone particularly surprised though? You always kinda knew those bastards would do al they could to force in Minneapolis, at the Metrodome spot. I just hope the issue gets resolved at this point, I don't care anymore.

Striking similarities between what the Seattle Supersonics' situation was and what the Vikings situation is now....
Don't let the Vikings be next.

Re: Stadium thread
And the end result will be another stadium that will be painfully obsolete in 10-15 years. Obviously it's better than losing the team, but gaaahhhhh...I had a sense this would be the end result. They could build a fantastic complex in Arden Hills that would be the envy and model for many other teams looking to build a stadium, but instead they're going to have to settle for something that isn't great that appeases all the politician bastards. I could be wrong, they might be able to build something wonderful...Demi wrote:Of course those idiots will build it in the worst possible location of the 4. gah.
Interestingly...if it DOES go on the dome site, that means the team will have to play for the next few years at TCF. Outdoor football returns! Just the thing we need for a QB who grew up in the south LOL!

it was also announced today the league gets $6B/yr+ in TV contracts starting in a couple years. Minnesota, if they elect to contribute, should cap their contribution at $400M (same as Twins) and let the Vikings and NFL come up with the rest. $650M is beyond ridiculous with the league so profitable. If it costs Minnesota the team, so be it.

The $650M the Vikings are requesting in public subsidy is too high. It is an arbitrary number. The state/local partner should offer $400M, same as the Twins got, and no more. The league is thriving and can easily afford the rest. Then the Vikings should be allowed to build it in Arden Hills.thatguy wrote:Not sure I understand what you're trying to say.
It's a dichotomy for me. In general, I support the stadium subsidy. But it is not cut and dried, as I think there are far better uses for public money.

Ramsay County keeps coming up with funding ideas. But there is stiff opposition in Ramsay County itself.

But County Board Chairwoman Victoria Reinhardt said that any plan requiring Ramsey County to shoulder an "undue burden" is "inappropriate."
Legislators "need to determine whether the Vikings are a state asset they want to keep and if they do, there should be a statewide solution, period.
Re: Stadium thread
The state SHOULD pay more because they need a new multi-use facility that the Vikings stadium has offered. If they want to use it (as the state has indicated), they should pay for it. I'm glad they built Target Field, but the state would be getting a LOT more out of the new Vikings stadium simply because it would have a roof.CalVike wrote: The $650M the Vikings are requesting in public subsidy is too high. Food, drink tax touted to fund stadium
The Ramsey County plan is only option for Arden Hills, two commissioners said.

I'm really fine with whatever at this point. How bout they just tax me $1,000 every single month for the rest of my life? I'd do it.dead_poet wrote:Food, drink tax touted to fund stadium

The Twins Staidum cost 545m. The State paid 73.3% of that with the 400m.
The Vikes Stadium cost 1.1b. 73.3% of that is 806.3m. The Vikings are only asking for 650m.
While that true, the Vikings also only pull folks into the stadium 10 times a year, 2 PS games and 8 regular season, if they dont host a playoff game. Baseball, while a smaller stadium, has 80+ home games bringing folks to the area.
