Question: How much would a new stadium add to the resale value of the Vikings?

Could it possibly approach the $400M that the Wilfs have committed to the Anoka County site?

I think the simple fact is that Zygi _must_ recoup in real estate development every penny of the $400+ million dollars that he's pledged for the stadium. I'm not sure how you can blame him. He could move the team to L.A. and have a new stadium for the cost of the moving vans and new letterhead. I can't see merely adding a new stadium increasing the value of the franchise $400M. The Wilfs would potentially lose hundreds of millions of dollars by committing to a site where there are no other opportunities for income.

This doesn't answer your first question but Wilf is on record saying that any site other than Arden Hills wouldn't justify nearly the commitment he's pledging. In other words, if it's not Arden Hills, his contribution gets sliced. And I don't blame him.

Ramsey County officials are proposing two new taxes similar to those that already exist in Minneapolis and parts of the west metro. Legislative approval would be sought for a countywide 3 percent food and beverage tax, on top of a 3 percent hotel-motel lodging tax, excluding the county's suburbs, said Mehrkens, the county finance director.

The two new taxes would raise $25 million a year, bringing the county close to the $350 million local match that would have been generated by a half-percent countywide sales tax - previously abandoned under pressure from lawmakers.

This article is encouraging for Ramsay County coming up with $350MM. But some legislators are still skeptical. :wallbang

That might be the final nail in the coffin for Wilf. If I was Wilf, Id take that as the state telling him they just arent interested, and Id proceed accordingly.

Minneapolis is playing with a far different, far less costly, set of financial rules than Ramsey County in the big effort to build a new stadium for the Vikings.

But City Council was openly hostile to Rybak's plan on Thursday.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell met briefly with reporters before Sunday's game at Ford Field, and reporters from the Twin Cities, of course, wanted to know how Goodell felt about the Vikings' ongoing stadium issues.

"I believe the leadership there wants to get it done," Goodell said. "We want to get it done. I know the Wilfs want to get it done. So we'll continue to work with the leadership there to make sure it gets done the right way. Not just for the NFL but for the community."

(Sunday Dayton) invited the key legislators dealing with the stadium issue to watch the Vikings at the Governor’s Residence in St. Paul.

There was no winning move by either side today as the site and funding are still being worked out. However, Some lawmakers say it appears gaming is the frontrunner when it comes to paying for a new stadium. Lawmakers are hoping to submit a bill with both the site and funding in early January but say they won’t do so until there is bipartisan support.

I don't. That's been the preferred site for a long time and he likely stands to make much more $$ from Arden Hills. He even publicly said that his contribution will drop if the site isn't Arden Hills. I understand there's politics and posturing involved in everything, but I'm convinced he selected Arden Hills because he feels it's the best solution (and they were willing to not only listen, but step up to the plate as partner).
