Raise the Roof!!
The Metrodome, minus a roof since December's blizzard took the air out of the much-maligned but functional stadium, is whole once again.

Its new roof inflated in about 45 minutes Wednesday morning, much faster than officials expected.

"We had a good day today. The inflation went without a hitch," said Ted Mondale, chair of the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission. "There didn't seem to be any issues whatsoever."

I don't know if it is just the pics, but the new roof looks very bright! At last, Minneapolis is again whole.

Unless Im an idiot (which is totally not out of the question), all this is, is the final "proposal" being done by the Vikings, to propose to law-makers, IF they have time to listen. If IM right, big deal. Id say, "about friggin time an actaul final plan was proposed". Doesnt mean the state will say "OMG, so glad you actually have a plan in place, good job, here you go, take our cash and start building". Is it a step in the right direction? I suppose. One that should have been done AT LEAST a year ago. Its actually more embarrassing it just got done at this point, than it is exciting to me. Hopefully it isnt just them "settleing" for another Metro Dome II. On the excitement meter, a 1.5 on a 1-100 scale for me.
i like the outdoor stadium idea. the nfl is meant to be played in bad weather at times imo. i miss the sub zero nfl games. that was a fun game imo when Chicago and Minnesota played outdoors at TCF Bank Stadium even though the vikings lost big.

No word on the stadium. Given the seriousness and implications it has the Vikings have no choice but to stand down and hope they are included in a special session (no date set to my knowledge).

"Inside, the arena was brighter than before. That's because the central portion of the roof has only one fiberglass layer, not two as before, to better aid snow melt from the roof. With the interior layer gone, dozens of silver-colored acoustic panels have been hung like flags from the ceiling to improve noise control."

Hmmm.... Less noisy too?

Well that is unfortunate, but thanks for the update.

I am 99% sure it will not pass this year. And that is unfortunate. I wonder how willing Dayton would be to call a secial session later in the year if it doesn't pass this time around?

now the stadium is again possible this special session. Three worries though: (1) not sure the roads impasse is truly worked out; (2) legislature must approve $350M in spending (gasp) for this stadium; (3) legislature must approve Ramsey County's ability to levy a sales tax increase (gasp) of 0.5% county-wide without the approval of voters. After witnessing the state government shutdown over a tax hike issue, I don't think it happens this year, if ever. Hopefully, they prove me wrong, stranger things have happened.

He will also be able to claim credit for preserving thousands of state jobs by forcing Republicans to drop a proposed 15 percent reduction in state workers and for a $500 million bonding proposal that will kick-start private sector jobs. Dayton further got Republicans to eliminate controversial social policies from spending bills.

Pulled this from a news story from a paper from the cities. Star trib I think. It's about the GOV caving in to the GOP budget. Shutdown should be over.
Let's hope it's for what we want it for. LOL

Vikings Veep Bagley says Zygi Wilf spoke with Dayton and they're still aiming for a stadium deal in next several days. Bagley says they can have a deal finalized in a couple of hours. Bagley concedes the ? is how to pass a deal in "this difficult environment given the budget situation." Stadium bill co-author Rep. Michael Nelson, DFL-BPark, says he doesn't think there's a lot of support for stadium given budget cuts. Bagley says Zygi Wilf told Dayton today: "The time is now." For stadium.

God if this gets passed and the CBA gets reached I won't care about our record this year. I just want football and I just want the VIkings to always be in Minnesota.

I predict it won't happen. Too many important people are opposed to the whole thing, even though they fail to see the big picture (in fact, way too many people fail to see the big picture with this issue).

Which is saying that if the state of Minnesota and Ramsey county give the Vikings exactly what they've been asking for, they they can have a deal finalized in a couple of hours. No kidding. Big deal.

Guys, the stadium deal looks very, very bad at the moment. Like not happening bad.
