How can the Wilfs expect the people to pay 2/3 's of their stadium costs when they haven't even done enough planning to commit to a stadium design and at the very least a location to build it. I am very surprised that the Wilfs have been so slipshod in there preparation when this has been coming since they bought the team. I expected this from Red McCheap but I figure the Wilfs were a little more savvy about development than a used car salesman. I am starting to wonder if the real plan is to sell the team or move them .

I think the only thing the wilf's have done wrong is put 100% of their trust in to Lester Bagley, who clearly has no idea what he is doing.

Two weeks from the end of the legislative session that will determine the state's investment in a new Minnesota Vikings stadium, the back-and-forth continues between two government bodies willing to be the team's local partner.

City of Minneapolis officials called a Monday afternoon media conference at which they reportedly will unveil a plan to build a stadium on the existing Metrodome site, with the city footing roughly 25% of the bill. Citing a source, the Star Tribune reported the city would use sales taxes from the city's convention center to contribute to the Vikings stadium and also help renovate Target Center.

The impending announcement comes days after a report the Vikings are "very, very close" to a deal with Ramsey County to build a stadium in Arden Hills. A third site at the farmer's market in the Warehouse District was eliminated when Hennepin County dropped out of the running.
I just hope this doesn't scare of Ramsey County. Let's just get one done! Daggone!! :wallbang: :wallbang:

If Minneapolis and Ramsey County both truly want a stadium, then each should propose their best deal. Then let the chips fall where they may. Two suitors seems like it increased the odds of a new stadium actually being built.

This is a misleading story really. Very close to having a deal for a site in Arden Hills, but then it would have to be proposed to the state. Not sure if this will get done in time...
Can have a special session, it is getting deadline enough for such measures.

I dunno if it's that he doesn't know what he's doing, but he does come off a bit hard edged. Might not be the best face of this urgent project.

Supposed to hear something this afternoon. Looks like Zygi is going to go with Ramsey County and not with the Minneapolis option. This means that he will have to fork over a lot more money, but this could also mean that an open air stadium could be a possibility... Can't wait to hear what is said this afternoon.

I am holding out for an open-air stadium as well. From a business standpoint, this Ramsey stadium might make the most sense. With all the open land, Zygi could open some hotels, etc. Fingers crossed! I just don't want them moving to L.A. or anywhere outside of Minnesota.

Info from Judd Zulgud via twitter:

Vikings to hold a press conference with Ramsey County officials today at 3 p.m. Vikings officials appearing at the presser will include Zygi and Mark Wilf and Les Frazier. Bud Grant and Jim Marshall also set to attend.

Looks like Ramsey County is a go! Now let's get this to the capitol and get 'er done!

Dayton joins in...

http://hometownsource.com/2011/05/10/go ... n-shortly/
Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton today (Tuesday, May 10) indicated an announcement concerning the Vikings stadium could be coming this afternoon.

Dayton said only a few minutes before his 10:30 a.m. press conference he had been on the phone with Vikings owner Zygi Wilf.

“I think they’re excited,” Dayton said about the tone of the conversation.

Although not specifying whether the announcement had to do with a team decision on a proposed stadium location — downtown Minneapolis or Arden Hills — the governor did detail infrastructure improvement cost relating to the Arden Hills location.

Good stuff so far...retractable roof....21,000 parking spaces...emphasis on a "whole-day experience" with spaces for tailgating, etc.

My favorite part so far, from Zygi, talking about the retractable roof that would allow different events, including..."The Super Bowl...with us playing in it, of course."
