Some positives:
- we just split a series against the best team in baseball
- Baker and Slowey are coming around
- we have young guys like Valencia and Repko who are doing great jobs
Eh. Even tho the team won the 3rd game of the series, Guardy tried lose it, or managed it to try not lose rather than try to win it. His pitch count and pulling a pithcer to face a certain player here or there is fine, IF he would consider the way the pitcher who is throwing is doing. Several times he has pulled a guy doing well, just because, maybe he walked ONE guy, maybe he gave up a couple hits, maybe he decided before the inning started he would only face "X" batters, reguardless of how well they are pitching, and its chicken ####.

Well good for you that you are so positive and can't see what we have seen every year. If you are happy enough with just having a "good" baseball team, not a championship one, then kudos. I however, get sick of the losses that occur because of braindead decisions that the manager makes. Yes, I realize they still won yesterday. But they were up 6-0 in the 8th and damn near lost because of the decisions he made.

Not from what I've seen. If the pitcher is flying through the game, he lets the pitcher finish (see Edwin Jackson's no hitter). Gardy is the only one who removes his pitcher after 100 pitches exactly no matter what. I'm certain if Slowey was pitching a perfect game and had 100 pitches after 8 innings he would put Capps in.

And who cares if everyone else does it? It has lost Gardy many games, including playoff games. It is not an effective way to manage, especially since the pitchers are in better shape nowadays from the days whan Bert Blyleven or Nolan Ryan pitched.

Exactly. Not only has it lost us games, its made games we won, A LOT closer than they should be. And while we won those games, it was against bad teams. That sort of managing will not cut it in the pennant race or the playoffs. He is the manager, he picked his pitchers, and clearly, other than Pavano and Lariono, has NO confidence in any of them.

He pulls Liriano too. The only one that I can't recall him pulling too soon is Pavano. Maybe he stands up to Gardy r something.

8 walks is breezing through hitters? Not really. And he stunk after that game

Don't forget he played for the Sox for 13 years (85-97) and is now in his 7th year as manager. That's 20 years with the Twins as a close rival. I'm sure he does take losses to the Twins worse than other teams.
I had a feeling after we piled the runs on one game, we'd struggle to score the next game. Left a lot of runners on early and Im begining to think Span is the dumbest base runner ever. Been picked off a ton and made some stupid base running errors, add to that he isnt hitting well as lead off......... Hopefully Liarino can throw well tonight, be nice to take the series 2-1.

You know, Span has been my favorite since he came up a few years back because he reminds me of how I used to play (not a lot of power, but hits well for average, has lots of speed and great defense in the OF), but his baserunning is horrific. How someone can get picked off more than like twice per season is completely baffling. I got picked off one time and it was against a lefty, and everyone who saw it said there should have been a balk called. He tries to take leads that are too big and then pays the price for it. And he isn't even that great of a base stealer. In his defense (albeit very small defense), shouldn't Jerry White be telling him to stand like 2-3 feet closer to first base (this is not a knock on Jerry White, I think he is a very good first base coach). I just don't get it. I think that getting picked off kills rallies faster than double plays. There is no excuse for it.
