Seriously, where was this pitching all season? Although they allowed 6 runs yesterday, it was to a good hitting team, and lately their bullpen has been pretty good. Cuddyer is on fire. Even Delmon Young is hitting the ball well. The four game setin Detroit will be a very fun series for sure.

I'm amazed at the number of HRs they've hit this year. It's always been difficult for them to even have one guy with 25-30 in a season, but now this season they have 4 guys who are right at that mark. Morneau and Cuddyer both have 30, Mauer has 28 and Kubel has 24. That's pretty impressive considering the team's history.

And for all you guys who are so hypercritical of this team: :spanking: Despite everything, they are still in the race. Without the gazillion dollar payroll, without the superstar ace of the staff, without the lineup of overpriced superstars, they still get the job done. And isn't that all that matters?

Personally, I will allow them an off year now and then. All I ask is that they finish ahead of the Black Sox.

If the entirety of the job is to win a weak division, and that's all you want, then I guess. But the goal should be a championship, not just to compete until the final week for a division title.

I'll take what I can get and be happy the Nationals don't play in Minnesota. The Twins have won championships. What have the Vikings done?

Won the division a year ago. Spent money to bring in the best players possible for a handful of years now. Didn't try to do it on the cheap and let top players walk while not winning anything in the mean time.

Does Slowey have a chance to return this season?

I doubt it... I think he had surgery.

BIG SERIES TONIGHT!

And no, slowey is out for the season either way.

Too bad, he turned out to be our stud this year.

The Twins give up too many runs with the bunt.

Lead off double.

Bunt to third. One out.

Bunt pop up on the squeeze play for the double play. Three outs.

What a waste of a lead off double.

Did the Twins believe that they wouldn't get one single in the next three at bats?

Note that Span did get a hit to lead of the next inning. The bat was taken out of his hands the inning before.

That could cost the Twins the game, the series, the division, and the season.

Span scores, now up 3-1, looks like it'll turn out fine.

Edit: 3-2 and it's in the books. down to 1 game

Yes, pretty nice outcome. One game down for the day.

I don't mind moving the batter on first, but a bunt to third, and a squeeze takes the bat out of the hands of the hitters. Some managers like to manufacture runs that way. I'd rather try to get a hit in three at bats. Both ways can work.

Nathan got smacked in the tenth. I am worried about his pitching.

I agree with you, just wanted to pull you back off the ledge ;)

The bunt over to third, fine, but with 1 out, why not swing away. Any ball to the outfield scores the run, and the suicide is very hard to pull off.
