MLB is a damn sham. Pathetic there's no form of replay whatsoever and an idiot umpire making a pathetic call with no angle can change the outcome of a game.

I feel such little sympathy for a team that blows a 10 run lead. They shouldn't need a call like that in that game. I agree that replay is needed, but the fact that the Twins blew a game like that shows how horrific their buillpen is now. It seems like forever ago that their bullpen was one of the best baseball had seen in a long time. To me, Nathann should have been brought in in the 7th (or whatever big inning it was) to preserve the lead, and then the rest of the bullpen could be brought in after that. Put out the fire before it is too late, IMO.

I was thinking the same thing. Last nights game was one that could start a bit of a slump.

I am more upset at the Oakland announcers (or the one anyway) saying he thought it was a good call. Give me a break you dumbass, it was a #### call. Your team should have lost, but got lucky by being on the good end of an epic collapse. Anyone who can sit there and say Cuddy was out should not be anywhere the game, especially announcing. Dick and Bert would not have said that was a good call had the tables been reversed.

I am absolutely SHOCKED that the Twins won last night. Anthony Swarzak looks like he may be the real deal. I hope he continues his good start. I would be willing to give up Perkins in a deal for Sanchez from PIT if they want him.

It was actually a good game to watch I thought and I agree, Swarzak has looked good. About your comment that we should have won, but the call at the plate won it for them.....I agree it was a total BS call and not even close to right, that woould have only tied the game, I hated the call, but even if we would have tied it up, the way we pitched that game, Im not too sure we would have won anyways.

I hope we get hot and win a few, I have enough faith in our hitting to get a few Ws, the pitching on the other hand..........ugh no. I agree we need to try trade for SOMEONE.

Nooo, I never said (or meant to imply) that the call lost the game for us. This is one of the very few times that I don't get red hot mad at the umpires for being morons. Although at every angle I saw it was very clear that Cuddyer was safe, and I don't know how that ump could make that call and think it was correct, the Twins should never have been in that situation. If the final score was 4-3, then I would be livid. But losing a 10 run lead to a weak offensive team like Oakland is inexcusable.

I could (and have) go on about umps/officials and how worthless they are, but in this situation even I can't blame it on the ump.

Man, the Twins have been terrible as of late, Gardy better wake them up. Seems so foolish to not try acquire SOME kind of talent. We were within reach of the division a week ago, now were only 5 games back, but the way they are playing right now, 5 games is a mountain. Gardy should be on a very SHORT leash, Im sick of him and Polad, to me it looks like the players have given up.

Gardenhire's might be on a short leash, not because of the players playing soft, but he's now said not only during the offseason, but leading up to the trade deadline, that he can only use what he's given. They got a stadium, AND CUT PAYROLL! The left side of the infield is a joke, the outfield is pretty pathetic offensively, the pitching isn't living up.

There are many cases where you can blame the manager, I don't think this is one of them. This is on the front office. I was for the Young trade, but our front office didn't have enough insight into this guy or what? And trading Santana for nothing? (Which it seems was motivated by nothing more than getting the cheapest players possible in return).

Finally they speak out. I only hope Bill Smith is listening.

Core players plead for help from front office
ANAHEIM, CALIF. - The Twins' front office historically has been unable to make a significant July trade to help a playoff run.

Twins players want this year to be different.

In what amounted to a plea to General Manager Bill Smith, several players interviewed during the weekend series against the Angels said it's time for the front office to make a significant deal to help their chances of winning the American League Central.
I like it. I hope it makes a difference. Even if they don't end up better than .500, at least they would have tried to help the team.

Yea, hopefully they listen, IF the front office is going to listen to anyone, those 3 should be it. My guess is we do nothing. Like Mauer says, when is the "future" going to start???? Sheesh. Do something already.

Beat me to it. At least Smith tried this year. I have always liked Cabrera, so I like the deal. I'm hoping to get a relief pitcher as well. But I'm not getting too greedy, lol.

12:45pm: Via Twitter, La Velle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune says the Twins are also getting cash in the deal.

12:08pm: Yahoo's Tim Brown said it was a done deal, with the Twins sending shortstop prospect Tyler Ladendorf to Oakland for Cabrera.

One thing that scares me is Detroit got Jarrod Washburn. That makes them a much better team, IMO (I mean better than they were before, not necessarily better than the Twins). Should be in interesting few months in the AL Central for sure.
