No Joke -- George Carlin Has Passed Away

Post by DanAS1 »

He was 71. And in those 71 years, he gave us some of the funniest bits in the history of comedy. Damn he was good. I guess his most relevant bit is the gag about the differences between football and baseball, but the seven words you can't say on TV is his most famous of all.

RIP George. Hopefully, they'll give you the most uproarious send off since the death of Chuckles the Clown.

So sad. He was my favorite comedian. We were going to go see him at Mystic Lake this fall. :(

Man, another icon from my youth is gone. I still remember listening to one of his original skits on 8-Track on day and almost wrecked the car I was laughing so hard.

The guy always made me laugh and smile. He will be missed. :(

Carlin mocked the taboos and accepted conventions of life and would deliberatly turn most of the audience against himself, then gradually win them back with his sublime ability to educate you about yourself. Irreverant, genius, maximus humorosity.....Thanks George. You Rule.

I can't really say rest in peace, because Carlin was an Atheist. May his elements be one with the Earth.

I thoroughly enjoyed Carlin as well. For anyone who enjoys Carlinesque comedy, please take a listen to Bill Hicks. It's too bad such a bright flame burnt out so early.

He was at his best when he was both funny and spot-on. I didn't like his anti-religion views, but I respected the fact that he was an equal-opportunity offender.

Here's a hilarious monologue he did on global warming:
