Re: Peterson plea deal...

People keep bringing up that he was paid while on the list but the Vikings had no choice but to either pay him or cut him. In other words, unless they were prepared to release him and get nothing in return, paying him wasn't an act of generosity. The Vikings were likely just protecting their own ...

Re: Sugaring the A Gap—Zimmer's Pressure Du Jour

Forgive my nitpicking your nitpicking.

I agree, Rodgers carved them up pretty good last time. By the time that game rolls around, the Vikes will have a full month of live action against quality competition. Hopefully that experience will benefit them in their first division game.

Re: Sugaring the A Gap—Zimmer's Pressure Du Jour

Rodgers wasn't predicting the defense. He was identifying it. There's a difference. He's not Nostradamus. There are things you can do after the snap, too. I keep thinking back to what an NFL films guy said once on Twitter. He said something to the effect of: "If I'm trying to slow down Peyton ...

Re: Sugaring the A Gap—Zimmer's Pressure Du Jour

Mike Zimmer is neither the kind of defensive coordinator to rely on the predictive playcalling of the previous regime, nor the kind of coordinator that relies on aggressive blitzing, like Houston, Arizona and Oakland did last year.

I'm not sure why you took such offense to this line, Jim ...

Thanks for the link DP. I used to love reading Arif Hasan's in-depth (understatement) analyses on Daily Norseman.

Re: The Vikings 9th Head Coach is...

Very excited about this hire. It seems Zimmer gets the most out of his players. If the rumors about hiring Turner are true, it could be a dream team staff.
He turned things around in Cincinatti pretty quickly.

Zimmer joined the Bengals in 2008 as the team’s defensive coordinator. Virtually ...

Re: Over/Under

Over/under on Adrian getting 1800 yards and 20 TD's

Adrian is a beast, but I think it is a bit unfair to set the over/under at those numbers. The point is to get action on both sides.
I'd take the under for both, although I think Peterson will still have a great year with 1600 yds/14 tds ...

Re: New Uniforms?

I'm pretty pleased with everything about them, except maybe the font on the numbers. Some look better than others, but that 8 on the left side is brutal. They should've just stuck to subtle hints on the serifs if anything. The matte helmet looks great and I like the ship-looking stripe on the ...

Re: PFF Free Agency Tracker

Herrera was solid, they cut him when he wasn't. Guion is decent rotational DT. Jamarca Sanford is a good backup and a special teams demon. None of those guys were signed in lieu of other players and none are on bad contracts. Your whole team can't be superstars.

As for Cook and Tahi, well they ...

Re: Harvin traded

I'm also worried that this now almost forces our hand if/when we whiff (or skip) the big-name free agents and it could negatively affect our ability to acquire a premiere MLB.

At this point I'm just searching out ways to hate this. I just HATE losing dynamic playmakers on an offense that sorely ...

Re: Harvin traded

While it is a shame to see such a great talent go, I think this is really a best case scenario for the situation the Vikings were in. To get three picks, one being a first, for a deal that with each passing day was forcing the FO's hand and lowering the team's leverage, I am ecstatic to get that ...

Here we go: If the Vikings can manage a win against the Packers, they represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.
