The Vikings have created some cap room by restructuring their punter.
According to ESPN’s Courtney Cronin, Minnesota will make the veteran minimum in 2021, which will clear around $1.4 million in cap space.
Colquitt has been with the club for the last two years, averaging 45.2 yards per punt in 2019 and 45.1 yards per punt in 2020. he spent the previous three seasons with Cleveland and his first six years with Denver.
Like all teams, the Vikings have been making moves to increase their cap room for 2021 — including releasing veteran offensive tackle Riley Reiff on Wednesday.
Pretty clever and good to keep Colquitt as I thought he did pretty well last season.

at this point, looking at this team...he will be handling the ball as much as most of our receivers.....

Would have preferred they just cut the 2nd worst punter in the NFL, but oh well, at least we are saving some cap.

Oh god, how terrible. We saved money on a solid if unspectacular punter. #### me in the ####, the Vikings are screwed.

22nd in hangtime, 31st in net punting yards per punt, 31st in punts inside the 20.
I don't care that they are keeping him but he was really bad last season and would prefer they try to upgrade. Maybe they still will.

the bar is set so low in MN, he will fit in just fine and the fans are so beaten down by 4-5 decades of .500 performance that this is all "news"...... we will get excited to hear a bad inside lineman is switching positions with a mediocre outside lineman....woo hoo.

How is that pretty clever? He is just doing whatever he can to help the team

Yeah let's just burn the whole thing down if you really feel that way. How utterly pessimistic.

It's clever because I didn't think they would restructure his contract. I figured they'd leave it alone.

They would have left it alone if they are under the cap

Does PFF do grades on punters? Curious as to where he ranks.

56.5 which is second to last.
Edit: For reference, Detroit Lions Punter Jack Fox has an 82.8, far above everyone else. But the average for punters is between 56-65. So I would put zero stock in it tbh.
