Director of Competition Development Mark Uyeyama and Senior Defensive Assistant Dom Capers’ contracts will not be renewed

I hated the Dom hire, I remember Packer fans laughing at the Vikings for hiring Dom, I am glad Dom is gone but honestly it is not his fault that Dom has a young defense and had injuries on the defense though

We had 4 Defensive coordinators. We are a joke.

The poor results from this season on defense going off of what has happened with this team the last 7 years is a real disappointment. We had a general management that spent a lot of draft and free agency capital on defense alongside a defensive minded head coach and all those coordinators yet this team was bottom 10 or bottom 5 in a lot of franchise metrics on defense.

The injuries, not being able to work out those contracts and having people walk and all that youth on a very difficult position to learn, the secondary, sunk us. People said all season that apart from being a QB, being a secondary player is the hardest thing to learn as a rookie or somebody coming into a new team and all those rookies and fresh hires sunk us.

Upfront, the Pierce/Hunter/Yannick/Kendricks situation murdered us on pressuring, hitting and sacking the QB. We finished this season with almost 30 fewer sacks than last season, we just were not getting home at all.

Going off the results, I'm alright with letting these people go. Yeah, the fact that we had Dom Capers on this team and got torched in our first game at home against the Packers and torched throughout the season is salt in the wounds, a real bummer.

On the coaching front, they need to really push Kubiak to make a decision prior to this weekend. 2 really good offensive teams are going to get knocked out of the playoffs and their coaching staffs will be available for anyone to poach. If Kubiak is pondering his decision to retire, that will be another group of coaches we won't have first crack at.
