Rumor has it, the Vikings ARE actually interested in trading for Williams per ESPNs John Keim. Washington is asking for a 2nd but they won’t get it.

What I’m seeing is possibly trading either Harris or Reiff with the latter being more likely. There was a rumor going around that said Williams wanted $18-$20 million a year. His agent came out and said that’s completely false which is good news for us.

I think trading Harris in this situation would be the wrong move. However, the more I’ve read on it, the more Riley Reiff makes sense. Washington still gets a left tackle, I’m sure they would restructure his deal and it would allow us to give up much less than a 2nd round pick.

I’m thinking trading Reiff and our 4th round pick for Williams. It’s a win-win. Washington wins because they get not only a left tackle but a pick as well and we win because it’s an immediate upgrade over Reiff.

If we trade for Williams, it can’t just be a pick unless they plan on trading Harris or someone to a different team. We need to shed one of these cap hits and it should be reiffs. If we trade Harris for Williams and keep reiff just because we want to put him at guard I’ll throw up.

From a cap standpoint, trading Reiff saves us over $8 million which would then create some much needed room to give Williams a contract. Plus Williams has familiarity with cousins.

The more I heard about this trade the more unrealistic I thought it was given the rumor about what Williams wanted per year. But now knowing more details, this would be a perfect trade.

Reiff and a 4th for Williams. Hell squeeze like a 6th or 7th round pick out of them to go with it. Make the move Spielman!!

Trading Reiff and a 4th for him just seems too good to be true. It would be awesome though. I'd hope they would also have an extension in place for about 4 years.

I can’t think any reason why any team would want Reiff even if he came with a 4th let alone for a guy like Williams. But it is the Redskins so I guess anything is possible.

I am going to see if I can get any insider info on this situation.
I will check with one of William's ex teammates and best friend on the team. He is retired now, but he played LG right beside Williams for the the first 3 seasons of Williams career, then moved back to center for the next 3 yrs before he retired. Williams and Kerrigan were Kory's beat friends on the team and I know they still stay in contact all the time. Kerrigan comes every summer and helps Kory out with his local football camp that he puts on.
I know the whole family really well, and work with his older brother.
I will teach out to him today and ask him if he has heard from Trent lately about situation, and if he is talking to the Vikes as a possible landing spot. I don't know he will know, but if he knows he will tell me.
If I find anything out i will post it.
Btw Kerrigan is really a cool guy. Spent some time at the local Tavern/ restaurant with those guys the evening after the last day of camp. This was before Kort retired and was still playing, so it when he was still at his playing weight. He took off about 80 lbs after he retired and is really slim now. But back then Holy crap did this guys pack away the food and beer. I had a great time hanging out with them listening to stories and them talking about different players, coaches and different different announcers and analysts. Trust me ut was just an endless supply of pitchers, wings , ribs and other food. A great time.
So hopefully I can find out if there is anything going on between the Vikes and Williams.

The Skins will be lucky to get anything of value for Williams. They should have traded him last year and they would have gotten a second round pick for him, easily.

I don't see how anything could happen with Williams at this time. The Vikings would need to do some serious due diligence to see if he is in shape to play, and they can't do that right now.

Well I have a text sent to his brother to see if he can find out what Williams is looking at right now, if he has any idea what may happen as far as a deal with the Vikes, and if he is in fact even able to share it with me. If I hear anything I will post it

All this depends on what the Vikings are willing to give up.

From all the unbiased publications I've read about Anthony Harris, he's probably going to command a second-round pick in any trade involving draft picks. The guy has 9 picks over the last two years, 6 last year with 60 tackles and 11 passes defended. He's a star, and the only reason he's worth "only" a second is the fact that he plays safety, a non-premium position.

Trading Williams for Harris makes a ton of sense for Washington, but it makes little sense for the Vikings. In fact, I'd say getting Harris for a disgruntled Williams straight up would be a steal for Washington. The Redskins have zero leverage in this. Trent Williams isn't going to report to Washington if they don't release or trade him, so they are desperate to get something in return. And as good as he is, Williams is 32 years old and hasn't taken more than 80% of his team's snaps since 2015. Not only that, whoever gets Williams is going to have to pay him, which could be a disincentive for a lot of teams, certainly the cap-strapped Vikings.

We've got a dozen draft picks, including two firsts and two thirds. I'd rather see the Vikings deal Reiff and a third for Williams than Harris. No way I'd give up either of our firsts or our second in any circumstance. If they're going to move Harris for Williams, I'd say WE are the ones who should be receiving draft picks in return.

Keeping Harris and dealing Reiff makes more sense to me. If we keep Harris and don't end up trading him, we retain the services of an all-pro safety. If we're going to trade Harris, we need to get more than Trent Williams, who isn't worth Harris' second-round grade.

No way. I want to keep Harris. Scherff needs a new contract as well. So no matter what we have to pay someone. I’d rather it be Harris

Agree 100% kapp. Involving Harris in this trade would be stupid unless we’re getting more in return. Reiff is 100% the one to trade here. Because Washington needs a left tackle. They signed Cornelius Lucas from Chicago but gave him backup money. I can’t imagine they want to just roll with him and I’m not so sure they will be drafting one early in the draft given there are needs all over that team.

If they want Reiff, I can’t imagine we have to give them a whole lot with it. Williams won’t play for them, so like you said, they have no leverage. They can’t get rid of him and get a left tackle in return that will actually play or they sit on Williams. I can’t imagine they’d be okay with just releasing him and getting nothing.

If I was spielman id low ball the crap out of them. Offer them just Reiff and see what they say. It’s not like they are going to ask for Reiff and a 2nd. They aren’t even getting a 2nd alone for him let alone a player with it. Pull it off Rick

Thanks. Trading for Williams is a tricky situation because how do we even know if he's any good any more. We would have to include Reiff or Harris in the deal and maybe both.

If Vikings get Williams, at least Williams will be an big upgrade over Rieff

If Harris gets traded, Vikings can draft Winfield to replace him so it keeps Winfield in the Vikings family
