Just saw a tweet on NFL.com about Smith being the highest paid safety?

"Harrison Smith is the NFL's new highest-paid safety, but for how long? Will be interesting to see how deal impacts Eric Berry in KC."

Found an article now too:

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Vikings have agreed to a contract extension with safety Harrison Smith on Monday morning, making the 2016 Pro Bowler the highest-paid safety in the league.

Smith will earn $51.25 million over the next five years, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, including a $10 million signing bonus. Smith will get $15.27 million guaranteed over the course of the contract, the source said.

Wow, he is good, and all, but that is a ton of money. My lord. At least he gives his all every play and doesnt do stupid crap. On or off the field. But thats so much money.

Well we don't have a mega QB contract though, so that helps.

well, if Sendejo is worth a 4 year / $16million contract, then the Vikes are getting an absolute bargain with Smith :v):

Kalil, Rudolf, Peterson, Sendajo

all are over paid IMO...

Granted Peterson should be paid
well, but more than double what any
other RB makes? 11 million more ?

Given our team now.. I would trade Peterson
away for a second any maybe fifth..signed an
effective back (chris Ivory) and top OL the
baltimore guy 65 million(drop kalil also).
Don't resign super spastic Sendajo. Have
Rudolf redo deal. That gives us all pro LT
and LG Boone ...Ivory and McKinnon at RB.

I've been quite disappointed with Rudolph. He showed a lot of potential and got a big contract because of that upside, but he has not delivered since.
