@GoesslingESPN: Deal is done RT @AdamSchefter: Vikings traded 5th-round pick to Miami for WR Mike Wallace and 7th-round pick, per league source.
In your opinion, is this a good deal?

What role do you predict he will play in our WR core?

@GoesslingESPN: #Vikings pursued Wallace as a free agent two years ago, were still very high on him this year. Was the only WR they would've traded for.

It means MIN will not draft a WR in the 1st round.

OL or Trae Waynes is confirmed.

I wasn't into him 2years ago and nothing has changed now.
Interesting that he is the first guy gone in Miami's attempt to shed cap space.
I thought he kinda Diva'd his way out of a sweet situation in Pittsburgh and is a bit of a me first guy.
Great talent. I would imagine between Jennings, Turner and Zimmer he'll have plenty of role model type support.

He was very productive in Pittsburgh. Laid an egg in Miami. Lets hope he can catch fire again. One of the fastest guys in the nfl, so he can stretch the field and open up the middle

Lets not forget....he still posted 10 TDs this year with a noodle arm QB in Tannehill

So we gave up a 5th round pick and gained a 7th round??

Ok so I'm from Miami, and have watched Wallace since he was on the Steelers. This is my take (FWIW):

Wallace is a talented receiver. He is blisteringly fast. He has good hands, body placement, the works. What he also has is a bit of an attitude. This could be a huge pickup for our Vikings should he play like he did in Pit. I also think it wasn't completely his fault in Miami for his lackluster performance. Tannehill was still quite inconsistent, and the Dolphins did not have much of an identity. I really believe that Wallace can do very good things for us, and he will fit in admirably in Turner's system.

I will say that his salary should be restructured considering, at the moment he is not worth nearly that much. And also consider how much we are paying Jennings. What helps with this trade, and the cap hit is the fact that most of our players are young with small contacts, so I think we can keep Wallace's salary for the year, and if he plays well, resign him long term.

Anyways, just my two cents.

Wallace's average per catch in Pitt was 17.5 YPC. In Miami it was 12.8 YPC.....this alone says that Tannehill struggled to get him the deep ball.

Thanks for that take. I hope he works out and becomes a long term guy here.

I think this is a one year rent to own kinda deal. I believe Miami wanted him to restructure, which he didn't, hence the trade. I think the plan is to see if he recaptures what he was with the Steelers this year. If he does great, keep him... if not bye-bye next offseason as a cap casualty with no dead money. Of course if he restructures with the Vikes that'll be interesting.

I can see that. Or if he lights it up this year...good bye/restrucure to Jennings next year.

would we of rather have got Marshall with a 5th like the jets did or Wallace with a 5th?

Like the trade for wallace but a big eye opener to how we view the future of c-pat. If the season started tomorrow you'd probably have wallace & jennings 1&2 wr's johnson 3rd?

I would not be surprised to see CP84 traded now.

With this addition I like our WR core even more. Now lets beef up our OL.
