I mean seriously.... This guy is special.
He reminds me of that Hines Ward-type guy who ALWAYS has a smile on his face.. always has a love of the game
When other players (Gordon, Manziel.. etc.) his age are doing what they do...

CP is just working on getting better, and focusing on the right things....

He's been on the radio a lot lately. He seems like an awesome guy on and off the field. He's quickly becoming my favorite player.

Cordarrelle Patterson expects to be a "top-five playmaker."

"I'm a playmaker, I like to make plays," Patterson said. "Like I tell them, just get the ball in my hands I feel like I'm special with it. I just like to do special things with the ball."

He's hard not to like. I hope he'll be a Viking long term.

I just watched this video. And when asked if he would be the best wr on the team, he was classy and dodged the question instead of making it sound like Jennings was just along for the ride. Probably been said a hundred times but it reminds me of Carter mentoring Moss. And now we have a coaching staff with balls that will feed Patterson like we did Moss in 98. Norv is gonna have Cassel/Bridgewater tossing that #### all over the yard to Patterson/AP/Jennings/Rudolph.

Or ... Maybe he's just smart enough to realize that it could take him a couple of years before he's at Jennings' level.

Just looking at that lineup of playmakers, I couldn't help wondering how SWEET it would be to still have percy in that mix as well. Probably wouIdnt have Jennings or Patterson though. good riddance and all, but even with bad qb play, you throw percy into our current mix and we have a top 5 offense. Jennings and Patterson on the outside with percy in the slot, and AP in the backfield...that's scary. But screw him, I don't want anyone on my team that doesn't want to be here.

Maybe. But he obviously acknowledges he's special, and a lot of guys in his exact scenario would blab themselves as a number one. He considers himself a top 5 playmaker in the entire league but still did not want to say anything that might make Jennings look bad. I think it's a respect thing.

Even if he surpassed Jennings level I think Patterson is too humbled to label himself as the best WR on the team. I think labels like that is up to the fans to decide because if a player tries to answer it he comes off as arrogant or boastful. His stats will do the talking for him, he doesn't need to say it himself.

Similar to what Peterson said when McCoy said he was the best RB in the league. As AD said, the stats speak for themselves. And they do.

Let's not forget that Jennings has been working with Patterson, helping a young player with a huge amount of talent but not a lot of experience at playing football (not on the pro level, just in general). Maybe Patterson has learned that being a great receiver is more than having raw abilities. It sounds like he appreciates what the veteran is doing for him.

But, it is very encouraging that CP is working hard at learning the position and he is concentrating on learning how to run routes. It would seem that he realizes he has an opportunity to become something special and he wants seize that chance.

Grantland is often excellent; this one is no different.
This is one of those dead stretches of the NFL calendar when player proclamations are somehow news. Most of it makes for “Well, what’s he supposed to say?” reactions, but when Cordarrelle Patterson said yesterday on NFL.com that he’s going to be a “top-five playmaker” this year, the collective response was a little different. And that’s because he already is.
Patterson’s best weapon isn’t his speed (although at 4.42 in the 40, he has plenty). It’s how easily he makes tacklers crumble. Wiggle isn’t a rare trait for great kick returners, but it is rare for someone who measures 6-foot-2 and nearly 220 pounds. Patterson can put his foot in the ground and stop his entire body, seemingly mid-stride, in the same way Devin Hester could. The difference is that Hester has less body to stop. The way Patterson changes direction at his size defies laws of nature.

It is funny how many fans were dogging Spielman for drafting him in the first round.

Around the league: No. 1: Cordarrelle Patterson
Cordarrelle Patterson is just the electric wideout and complement to A.P. the Minnesota Vikings envisioned. Can he realize his prediction of becoming a top-five playmaker in his second year

He's certainly a source of hope, but his effectiveness depends on our getting great play from another position -- or maybe I should say multiple other positions (including an offensive line that can pass protect). Our offense is like a house with amazing works of art in it but with a shoddy foundation. I'm focusing mostly on the foundational elements before I get too excited about those works of art (like CP and AD).
