In case you can't tell by the headline, I'm not very optimistic this week.

The outlook for the Vikings on Sunday looks dubious at best. They haven’t won a road game yet this season and have been one of the worst road teams in the league over the past decade. On Sunday they play a team that hasn’t lost at home since 2011. The Vikings would do well to feed Adrian Peterson, if nothing else than to keep the clock running and get the pain over as quickly as possible.

I can't imagine why. Just watch: this will be the Vikes first decisive win of the season, mainly because that's the most unpredictable result and the one that will create the most chaos. Ponder will probably be NFC Player of the Week!

I enjoyed the article, especially the first paragraph which may have been your best work yet.

But I think this will be a closer game than everyone expects. We should get blown out but we'll lose by 'only' 10 or so...

Go Vikings...anything is possible and not over until the end of the 4th!

Vikings 24
Seahawks 21
Ponder runs once too often and gets hurt, and Cassel comes in throwing strikes!

...wisdom ? Nobody really knows!

The Seahawks are what the Vikings have always strived to be. In a way, they’re like the eight-year-old brother of a professional baseball player. The Seahawks have the talent and identity that this Vikings coaching staff hopes they become when they grow up. The ‘Hawks’ game is predicated on the run, with a franchise-caliber quarterback that can put the team on his back if need be, but is an asset more than a liability. Their secondary is a nightmare for opposing quarterbacks. They have a fierce pass rush.
Nice analogy. Their scouting and development of players have been off the charts.

I think the shotgun or at least a fast tempo spread out offense is the only chance for the Vikings. They need to go no huddle and let Ponder run around and let his instincts take over. I think it's the only small shot they have at a win. If they come out in the inverted wishbone or goalline set, this one will be over by the 1st quarter. I've been doing everything in my power to trade for Harvin in my league (I stupidly waited one week too long to grab him on waivers). Unfortunately the guy won't budge. I'm hoping that Harvin will have some rust and will be kept limited in this game, although if that happens he might ragequit and throw a gatorade container at Bevell's head.

The other aspect where the teams are very close and it could be the difference if the game comes down to the wire ( ) is at kicker. We all know Walsh is an ace but Hauschka is having himself an amazing season as well. He's only missed one all year and last week had four field goals, including a 53-yarder.

This is one game I just don't know about. The logical side of me says, "Vikings are going to get kicked up and down the field." My heart says, "This could be the upset of the week with the Vikings winning."

Still think logic will win out.

Yeah, I'm torn as well. My gut feeling is that it will be a 52-0 massacre. But logic tells me that it will be more of a standard blowout, something like 38-13. As an optimist, knowing that the Vikes are coming off a win, with most players healthy, I could see losing by an unembarrassing score of maybe 24-17. And as a 45 year Viking fan who has seen it all, including the blown games of this season, I could certainly envision a best case scenario where they turn in a proud performance and lose 31-30 on a last minute TD drive.

Tough call.

No reason to be torn, the Vikings will be out classed big time. Ponder will be laughable vs the boom, and Wilson and Lynch will move the ball with reletive ease. 38-12

For some reason I just have a gut feeling we will play well today and at least make the game respectable . :smilevike: :v):

And just when you thought your expectations were safe the Vikes will come along and do some goofy crap like win this game just too mess with your sense of the normal. I will be salmon fishing here in Oregon where the game is televised so im sure it will be a blowout. Vikes 25 Seachicks 11

A blowout does seem a tad optimistic. :)

If the Vikes defense actually shows up and plays a full game as well as they played in the second half against Washington, an upset isn't impossible. After all the Bucs had Seattle on the ropes in Seattle just two weeks ago.

It's not a likely scenario but it would sure be fun to see the Vikes win today!
