That's as good a guess at the source of a Vikings curse as any... :)

Which curse? The one that prevented the Vikings from winning any of their four Super Bowl appearances, or the one that has kept them from appearing in another Super Bowl for the last 36 years?

36 years isn't a "dry spell".

Try this: "I haven't been laid in 36 years. I'm going through a bit of a dry spell."

I would say, what? You've been married for 36 years, congratulations.

I think that was just a general comment about marriage and the lack of "sexy time". Either way, it's funny you went all into it. lol. Not funny how you almost imply the ending of child support payments ranked higher than your kids' births (or at least one of theirs)...and any other special moments in your life. :nono: If the ending of child support payments is seriously the second best day of your life...I would say your life sucks. Get a new one. No, seriously...that's horrible.

Anyways, it's almost easier to believe the Vikings are cursed. At least there is an explanation/excuse. Dang it, we sure do need one sometimes!

I've only been a fan for 42 yrs. I was spared the Super Bowl IV embarrassment. Could you imagine what the media would do with that today?

I hear you Jeff. When the payments may be going to a situation you have no control over and the money is being spent on things other than the children with no recourse other than an expensive court battle, to have to endure that situation for maybe 10 to 15 years......the last payment can rank up there in memorable days in your life.

As for 36 years without getting laid........just kill me. :(

Jeffbleedspurple wrote:I have a theory on the 36 year dry spell of a Super Bowl appearance also, that curse started when we moved in doors.
I would agree with the indoors theory. The only 2 teams that could consistently challenge the Vikings for the NFC title were the LA Rams and the Dallas Cowboys. Both warm weather team. Playing at the Old Met really gave those two teams problems. The Superbowl is played in a neutral warm setting. The Vikings were exposed. So I don't think there is a "Vikings Curse", so much as they were a good team, not great, that had the benefit of MN weather during the playoffs.

Good insight. I've only known the Vikings to play indoors, so I can't really say. But I can say this makes a lot of sense. With that said, we've had some really successful teams indoors--and there's no good reason (especially concerning the indoor vs. outdoor argument) we haven't been back to the Super Bowl.

For the love of God why would any one comment about another persons life when they don't even know something as simple and basic as that persons color of hair and eyes, but yet they feel that they know enough to comment about a persons private and personal life or even to imply they know something. Then one would say my life sucks when they know just as much as the first fool which is absolutely nothing. I will just accept that.
Aww. You mad? As if you've never done the same to me. Please. Get out of town with the feel-sorry-for-me stuff. This is coming from the person who has "attacked me personally" many, MANY times. Really? :D But I can just laugh it off. You should try it. Clearly my comment was full of sarcasm and meant in a playful way--despite the seriousness of my opinion. Obviously, I hit a nerve. It's so easy with you. Don't be so sensitive and defensive. It really wasn't meant to be hateful. Sorry 'bout it. You have someone who commented on your life and he knows a lot less about you than I do--except for he agrees with you and has your back. Gonna jump all over him too for his comment he made unknowingly or is that one cool? :) Keep it real. Sorry about your "curse", though.

P.S. Don't put personal information about yourself on a message board if it's illegal to comment on it. You left yourself wide open. As you know, to you, I'm offensive by nature. :(

(Regardless, I'm sorry if you took it too seriously.)

Jeffbleedspurple wrote:First, I have no idea what gave you the slightest indication that I am seeking empathy and just as accrued on this thread I attacked no one. I do believe another open the book on personal life, I also believe stating that I have not been married for 36 years and not having to pay child support anymore as giving to much personal information.
Now if you want to classify retaliating to an attack as anything less than that
And you are correct, this has happen before.
It's all good.
My comment wasn't meant to upset you as much as it did. I still stand by it, but that doesn't mean I meant it in a hurtful, hateful sort of way, as your reply implied you felt about it. But now you're just losing it. You're missing all of my points, all while defending yourself against things I didn't even say.

Time to get back to football...this discussion is going nowhere. :)

If you would like clarification--hit me up in my inbox. I'll be glad to entertain you. But, I'd rather not embarrass you in front of all of these nice folks--and I really don't want to get in trouble. I just wanna play nice and move on. :) I can do that on occasion.

And yes I rather talk football for fun or serious which was the intention of this thread until someone decided to make it other than that, it wasn't me.
Anyone with a brain cell or two can probably do the math that it takes to figure out what you implied. I just happened to call you on it. Either way, it is what it is.

I didn't send it off topic either, but I am helping keep it off topic. :)

I guess your curse talk is about dead. There's really not a whole lot to say about it. It's one of those things that no one can say for sure, but I bet most doubt it. It's a whole lot of bad luck--and/or bad play, bad coaching, bad timing, etc., but it's probably not a curse. As I said previously, sometimes I'd like to think it is--so we have somewhat of an excuse!
