During the interview, Johnson made an interesting point about Ponder perhaps going through his progressions too fast at times, getting to his third receiver by the time he reaches the top of his drop when he should still be on the first receiver.

I watched this earlier.

An interesting side-note I noticed in the video was that 81 (Jerome Simpson) sure was creating a lot of consistent separation. I know it's in shorts but it was interesting to see. Would be amazing if he actually ended up being decent this season.

Probably the single LEAST surprising statement that I've read this whole off season. Checkdown Charlie is going to his outlet receivers too early? Who would have guessed.

It also goes hand-in-hand with observations made last year by some that Ponder appears to have had plenty of time to get a ball to many open receivers, but passed them by without making a throw. "Analysis paralysis" is spot on. Ponder has all the physical tools to be a top flight NFL QB, there's little question about that. The bigger question is whether or not he'll ever master the game mentally.

Ponder's biggest problem is decision making. A lot of times he doesn't give plays time to set up or he just simply overlooks an open man. The play that Ponder irked me the most was that TD pass to Kyle Rudolph. It was a very good pass but it was unnecessary. He had a WIDE OPEN Peterson practically jumping and screaming for the ball but Ponder chose to throw a very risky but well placed ball to Rudolph. Not that this was a bad play but hopefully Ponder will not make the play harder than it is in the future.

Im not trying to start anymore debates but I honestly believe QB coach Craig Johnson is just wasting space on the coaching staff. The same coach who coached Vince Young, and where is he now. I think he was there when Steve McNair was starting as well but McNair was good before Johnson got there and was almost a yard away from winning a super bowl. But since he has these two QBs in his resume, think some would consider him a good QB coach.
