Who would the Vikings have picked with the #52 pick?

Assuming we had kept the #52, who would we have chosen. Remember, this is the 2nd round pick. As much as I wanted to add some of the QB's to the list, we weren't picking them here anyway. I tried to select ten who were guys mentioned here and were reasonably rated.
My vote:
I think the Vikes still go WR here - Dobson.
And, as always, if you don't like the topic - the "what-if" game - just step away from your browser...

Blah, it's in the past. Arthur Brown would've been nice, but they had to find another WR somewhere.

There needs to be another choice on the poll which would be "who cares it is quite moot now anyway". That is my choice

Then just step away from the topic!
The collective wisdom of Vikings nation will help me (and maybe others) evaluate the Patterson trade. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the idea of four picks to move up. If it doesn't interest you, okay. But clearly from the amount of discussion going on, many of us are speculating at this point (...of having no observation of Patterson as a Viking) whether we like this move or not.
For example, if it turns out that concensus is Keenan Allen here at #52, and a bunch of no names in the other picks because no one falls to our #3 pick, I'll look at the Patterson trade much more favorably.

Keenan Allen. Would have been another great value pick falling into their laps. Sometimes (well, almost always) patience is a virtue. Chargers got a ridiculous deal.

Maybe this will help your wrap your head around it: It was only 3 picks to move up

#29 cancels out the #52 pick, considering either way we have 3 picks in the top 52 picks.
At this point, I'd say it would have been a WR. Spielman has made it clear they were looking to move up for Patterson whether it had been in round 1 or 2, but if he had come off the board before we had a chance, I think they'd have turned their attention to plan B at WR. Allen makes sense as he was the consensus highest grade left on the board. I personally would have liked to see Wheaton if we went WR (with Allen as a close second) because I don't believe Allen brings the explosiveness we were looking for at WR. Wheaton has a great combination of speed and route running ability. Dobson would be an outside shot if we go off the Patterson mold of raw player with great upside.
All in all, if it was me I would have taken Brown at that point considering the way the WR and LB boards were stacking up, and then tried to move up in the 3rd to grab Wheaton or Allen, or maybe stayed put and settled for Stedman Bailey, DaRick Rogers or Ryan Swope.
All in all, I'm still very pleased with the move they made. I think the drop off at talent at WR after Patterson is large enough to give up the LB we were likely to take in the 3rd or early 4th round and whomever the other player would have been.

Well, it wouldn't have been Patterson, because dollars to donuts he wouldn't have been there at 52.

I'm not criticizing the thread, because I'm kind of curious about the answer, but isn't the more important question who do we want with our next pick? And does it ABSOLUTELY have to be a linebacker?
I'll say this much -- we do need linebackers. But I would be loath to draft a bum linebacker when there's a stud available at other positions. We could use offensive linemen, for example. Could there be a stud guard out there for the taking?
I'm intrigued by Chase Thomas from the ol' alma mater, but I see him as an outside backer and not an inside guy. Maybe Henderson gets moved inside and they plug in a mid-round outside backer like Thomas. We'll see.

Well, with pure hindsight involved the best outcome to me anyway would have been to take arthur brown at #52 and then trade up with our 3rd + late 4th to grab Keenan Allen or Markus Wheeton, whoever they liked best.

Steadman bailey ! the Vikings needed another quality receiver to keep up with the firepower in the nfc north.

You should have faith in the current organization management and not need a bunch of fans to justify a franchises choice to move up and draft a player lol. Also I feel Allen would have been a horrible pick because he fills neither of the two spots we where actually looking for at WR, big play ability and kick return ability. To me Rudolph can do anything Allen can and better.

I think the Vikes would have used their extra 4th and at least one of their extra 7ths as currency to either move up in the 2nd or in the 3rd. I think they would have targeted Keenan Allen and the highest LB on their board. I would love to know what conclusion Studwell and other scouts came to regarding Te'o. A lot of the best LB talents went quickly in the middle of round 2, so it is conceivable that we would have missed out on the guys we wanted. Also, FWIW, this is an interesting thread and I don't quite get why folks can't "step away from their browsers" as you suggest.

Lol. On blast.
I was actually thinking about this on the drive back yesterday. I think Minnesota would have either went with Markus Wheaton or Arthur Brown. They may have traded up for Manti Te'o as well.

i'm glad they didn't pick teo or keenan allen. more questionable than Patterson and not as big of an upside.
