Draft Grader: Minnesota Vikings

...we’ve been going back over the 2008, 2009, and 2010 draft class of each franchise and assigning each pick a grade.
Each pick from the draft classes has been assigned a grade between +2.0 and -2.0 (in 0.5 increments) that depends upon:
• Where they were drafted
• Their performance
• Their contribution (how many snaps their team got out of them)
• Other factors, such as unforeseen injuries and conditions that could not have been accounted for
Let’s take a look at how Minnesota drafted.

Overall, not too bad and I pretty much agree. I think Griffen should be a category higher. Tyrell Johnson, DeGeare perhaps a category lower.

Pretty much in agreeance. Don't really like where Cook was placed, but at the same time it is hard to argue he could go anywhere else. Certainly more productive than DeGeare, though.

Interesting take... thanks for the link. I think it's a disservice to Griffen and Gerhart not to at least rank them as solid contributors. For Pete's sake, Griffen had 8 sacks and an INT for a TD in a backup role last year!

Yeah, but he's no Erin Henderson.

I agree. Griffen is more of a backup starter than just a backup. I'm really glad the Vikings have him.

They gave Joe Webb a higher point grade than Cris CooK ?
I don't agree with that one

Based on their criteria it's pretty accurate in my view.

Maybe if Cook would stop getting injured that would help his point grade a lot.

He doesn't always get injured. Sometimes legal problems keep him out for an extended period of time too! He's not just a one trick pony. He's found lots of ways to stay off the field!

Go ahead and laugh, guys. Personally, I think there's something to be said for Cook being open-minded about how to miss games.

Definitely weird to see them lump Everson Griffen, Toby Gerheart and even Jasper Brinkley in with guys like Ryan D'Imperio and Jaymar Johnson. Jaymar Johnson is now 29 and has one reception in his career.
And Nate Triplett, who didn't even make the roster, and current starting CB Chris Cook in the same bin? WTF?
PFF is kind of a joke.

When you look at their criteria it makes sense where they are (at least to me)
