Twins signed SS Adam Everett and IF Mike Lamb, both serviceable players. Everett will be a starter, moving Harris to 3B I assume. Lamb will be a bench player.
Jason Tyner was released.
I'll get links later for the news, but I gotta run!

That's sad. Jason Tyner was a good prospect. Fast as the wind but just couldn't get the whole "bat on ball" thing down.
Hopefully with the other trade we made this year we can use this young talent and win some games. I just want something to happen with Santana. trade him or extend his contract. Just give us some closure.

This sounds more and more like a AAA ball club.

What the hell did they release Jason Tyner for? He hit well, and was a good fielder. I liked him.

He was small ball. I'm sick of small ball!
That said, it's not like this team has any depth whatsoever, or anything that much better then him.

Tyner's no prospect, he's bounced around the majors for a while and is now 30.

They've got enough guys in his mold, he was expendable. They also have enough backup outfielders that can take his spot (Monroe, Rabe, etc.)
I kind of liked the Everett signing, though he's not a good hitter. The team needed a good defensive SS though and just picked one up. I've been vocal against signings of similar players in the past but that was because the roster was already full of defensive specialists. At the moment there was a hole defensively at the most important position on the field and it has been taken care of. With a lineup of
Castilla (or Punto, I prefer Castilla),
Mauer,
Young,
Morneau,
Cuddyer,
Harris,
Kubel/Redmond/other DH,
Monroe (or insert CF),
and Everett
the team will score runs. I really like that lineup/defense assuming CF is figured out. The bullpen we know is solid and the team has some nice arms. They will have a hard time beating out Cleveland and Detroit, but it should be a solid team. The new GM is really doing a nice job IMO as I'm really tired of a team that hits .240/.300/.380 but plays good D. I'd rather have decent D and a good hitting ballclub. Not only will it be more fun to watch, it would probably be successfull.

Looks about the same as the team that couldnt even get a wild card spot last year.

In sports, a prospect is any player whose rights are owned by a professional team, but who has yet to play a game for the team. Prospects can sometimes be assigned to farm teams.
I think he knew what it meant.

I would even be more liberal than that, in baseball its 25 and younger. At about 27 you hit your prime, and exit by 32 (unless you are on performance enhancers.)
Tyner is in no way a prospect.

Pretty close, Young replaces Hunter (with probably a little step down) and Harris replaces Bartlett which helps on offense. Everett replaces Punto, which is a very welcomed change IMO. Castilla will have more playing time too, which should be nice. And the big thing is Liriano, if he's healthy that will bring an extra few wins. Then, obviously, the Santana situation will either leave the team with a true ace or they'll make a trade and fix the CF and DH spot and downgrade in the rotation. They likely won't make the playoffs, but should play .500 ball and be well set up for the future. Considering the team is kind of in a rebuilding mold, they are in good shape IMO.

So when do they start playing for the present? All we ever do is play for the future.

They had been playing for the present for the last 5-6 years, they just never got over the hump in the ALCS.
