maybe a 2nd and 4th this year and a 2nd and 3rd next year would be workable for both teams?

I would be okay with that if some of those picks could be conditionally higher based on performance of AP.

ESPN's Mark Dominik -- a former NFL GM with the Buccaneers -- believes Adrian Peterson's trade value is a first-round pick and two second-rounders.
Dominik acknowledges no team would likely be willing to give up that much for Peterson, who turned 30 last month and is owed $13 million in salary and bonuses. Nevertheless, it's interesting that such compensation would even be thrown around. Former Browns GM Phil Savage suggested that a second-round pick would be "a more reasonable haul" for a team trading for Peterson.

Indeed. Curious. If you're in the "AD will be in Purple next year" camp it's a good sign and he must be meeting with coaches & management to continue to mend fences. If you're in the "AD will be traded within a couple of weeks" camp it could be he's saying goodbyes and cleaning out his locker or he's meeting to discuss his contract and/or negotiate terms of his trade.

I'm hoping it's the former.

Oh, the off season, you jerk. Now we get to wonder if there is some underline reason for Peterson telling the world he was in Minny ... or if he was just taking a food-selfie. Was he making plans to sell his house or making plans to buy into the 2015 Vikings team. I suppose we'll find out around draft time.

Go back to your homes people; nothing to see here.
@GoesslingESPN Per source, Adrian Peterson's visit to the Twin Cities didn't include any #Vikings meetings: http://es.pn/1FGCBdO

Here is an interesting quote from ESPN...
Peterson's future with Vikings unclear

Adrian Peterson did not meet with the Vikings during his weekend visit to the Twin Cities and told ESPN Vikings reporter Ben Goessling he wasn't sure if he would participate in any of the team's offseason workouts: "We'll see. I haven't even been reinstated yet."

TOP DEFINITION (from Urbandictionary.com)

we'll see

term parents use when a child wants something and they don't say yes or no. Usually means "no", but sometimes it means "yes"
Things are getting clearer by the hour!

I think the recent spate of quiet indicates a deal has been worked out in principle pending AD's reinstatement. I'll be happy if the Vikings can swing a deal similar to what they managed with Harvin, but if Spielman can manage the above I'll be very impressed. While its unlikely someone will offer that kind of compensation, I've learned to never underestimate desperation. I was listening to Cardinals talk radio the other day and those announcers were basically saying the Cardinals' window appears really small. The Cards have the defense but lack the offense, and even Larry Fitzgerald is apparently getting in on the action in support of a move for AD. Throw possible interest by the Cowboys on top of that and maybe another team and who knows? There might just be enough interest to drive up the price to where it makes sense for the Vikings too.

My Fantasy scenario is this; We trade AP to the Cardinals for something containing a first round pick and we then proceed to draft an impact player with said draft pick. Both the Cards and the Vikings make the post season. Said impact player plays in integral part in the Vikings beating the Cardinals in the Playoffs.

I don't even need a SB out of that.
