As I was growing up here in the Chicago area, I heard the same thing about Walter Payton many times but Payton finally got his Super Bowl ring. Too much of Peterson's career has been wasted on mediocre-to-bad teams but I just keep thinking about Payton and remembering that AD's career isn't over yet. As bleak as things look now, they can turn quickly, especially in today's NFL. Maybe he'll get still that ring!

I put most of the blame on the defense. Our defense had a advantage in that Rodgers was not playing.

Their defense had the advantage in that our offense was on the field.

There is no doubt, AD is playing his heart out. 'Tanking' isn't in his dictionary. He was playing hurt (and still may be hurt) this season. And when hes on the sidelines, he wants to win. Its not about padding his stats, his is a proud man who wants to win. He doesn't know who the Vikes will pick this years draft or for the next 5. And he wanted to beat the Packers, just like most of us fans did.

I agree. especially in this day and age of the nfl. teams go from being very bad to very good in just a season or two. teams go from very bad to very good a lot sooner than they used to too. look at the falcons. a couple plays away from the superbowl last year and just terrible this year. or the chiefs who were just awful last season and this year are playing great ball.

one can also look at playoff teams from one year to the next to see this. there is more turnover than ever before.

my point is that I think it's a little premature and a touch dramatic to already claim that AP is past the point of getting a ring. too much changes from year to year.
i'm ready for a beer.

I just heard, on a local news preview, (I think this CBS channel is based out of La Crosse, Wi) that the Packers are considering just sitting out Rodgers for the rest of the season. Anyone else hear/read that?

Edit: Sounds like if they lose another one, they'll probably just pull the plug on Rodgers for the year.

I haven't heard anything, but then again I haven't been looking. I would pull the plug. They're seeing first hand how bad they are without him so why risk the future of the franchise to win some meaningless games down the stretch? Sure they could still win the division but they're not going anywhere in the playoffs if Rodgers isn't 100%. I broke my left collarbone and even after it healed it felt weird and I favored my left side for a long time, and I didn't have 300lb guys trying to smash my face into the turf. Favre woulda walked off a non throwing arm "fracture" xD.

After a quick glance of my favorite Packer message board, someone there said they saw the same report (rumor?) on the NFL network. Nothing more to it though.

Per Tyler Dunne of Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
On Sunday morning, NFL Network reported that Aaron Rodgers would be "lucky" to play this coming week against the Atlanta Falcons. And if Green Bay were to lose Sunday against the Falcons and slip further out of the playoff picture, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said the team may shut Rodgers down for the rest of the season.

Buuut you play to win! If he's healthy, play him!

This is why some teams win super bowls...and others reach for the fifth QB in the draft and are on constant roller coaster rides...
