Did the topic ask for the best and worst player, noooo, it asked for your favorite and least favorite. I can't stand Kluwe and his attitude, and yes he was an average punter, which has nothing to do with it. Maybe that's just me and the way I feel, too bad if you do not agree.

One of the reasons Culpepper made my "least favorite" list:
100 starts - 102 fumbles - 106 interceptions

Brad Johnson, who was clearly "less skilled" at least athletically:
135 starts - 64 fumbles - 122 interceptions

Culpepper has more than one fumble (lost or otherwise) and one interception per start.
Johnson has less than one fumble every other game, and averages about 0.9 interceptions per game.

He makes my least-favorite list precisely because he makes the most-favorite list for so many.

You're kinda cherry picking the bad stats there, aren't you? Brad Johnson was booooring. That doesn't show up in the stats.

There's one player that wouldn't make my top five favorite Vikings, and probably not even my top 10, but there's a special place in my heart for CB Bobby Bryant. That 90-yard blocked FG TD return against the Rams In the '76 (?) playoffs and his 63-yard TD INT against the Cowboys in the 1973 NFC Championship Game sealed the deal. I wouldn't go to a game just to see him like I would Peterson, Tark, Page or Carter but he was a solid player that came up big in huge spots.

Anyway, my favorite positions have always been defensive line and RB and I'm a defense-oriented fan so even if I was putting together a longer list, it would lean heavily toward those positions, especially d-line. If I expanded the 5 favorites I listed earlier (Page, Eller, Peterson, CC and Dave Osborn) to 10 then Jim Marshall, John Randle and Keith Millard would definitely join the list. Touchdown Tommy probably would too. I'm not sure who the 10th player would... possibly Randall McDaniel or Matt Blair.

Oh Moth, you and I have so much more in common than you might think. I LOVED Kramer!! I know he had some off-field issues that may have hindered his career a bit but man, I loved the way he played. He's probably my favorite Viking QB too. Too bad that during his best years, the team around him wasn't very good. A lot of aging veterans and young guys that never quite panned out. Remember Mardye McDole??

And glad you mentioned Blair. I almost put him on my defense top 5. Had it been a top 6, he'd have been there.

And maybe you'll know this. What happened to Ted Brown?! I really liked him a lot. Of course in those days we didn't have the wall to wall coverage of everything like there is now. In my memory all these years later, it seems like Brown was a really good RB for a few years and then was gone. I know he had one ACL tear he came back from but I don't remember another serious injury.

As I write this it may be coming back to me a bit. Didn't he get into Bud Grant's doghouse big time for some reason? Maybe that led to a somewhat premature end to his time in purple.

Turnovers are one of the top stats that correlate with winning and losing. It's not cherry picking in that sense.

And I consider winning to be a non-boring result. Brad Johnson was 65-43 as a starter in the NFL, 28-18 with the Vikings. Both correlate to an average of a 10-6 record (actually, slightly better for the Vikings years than overall - his record isn't built on handing the ball off while the Bucs defense did the work). Those fabulous Culpepper years, with amazing stats, resulted in a 38-42 record as a starter. That's more-or-less an average of an 8-8 season.

It adds some validity to the comparison when you realize that Brad's stretch with the Vikings completely surrounds Daunte's. Brad was QB in 1994-1998, Duante in 1999-2005, Brad in 2005-2006. You can argue that the defense went completely to cr@p only in the middle years, when Daunte played, but it stretches the imagination. Besides, IMO Brad made the defenses look better, because he maintained the late 4th quarter drives that kept our defense off the field for the type of 80 yard give-up that we saw last year against Cleveland and Chicago, because we couldn't close it out on offense.

Chris Kluwe - An average to above average punter, but an awesome guy off the field. Made the Vikings cool for once.
John Randle - He was completely crazy, in a good way. So much fun to watch. The sack totals he put up as a DT are amazing.
Randy Moss - Maybe the greatest ever. Made Packers fans' heads explode.
Daunte Culpepper - The only franchise QB in my lifetime. It's a shame about giving away Moss and his knee injury. He was awesome and consistently made us one of the top offenses in the game.
AD - Had to include him

Least Favorite:
Dwayne Rudd
Chilly
Ontario Smith
Troy Williamson
Demetrius Underwood

Wow favorites are Pep and Kluwe? Franchise QB? Moss was a franchise WR, Pep? Nope. Unless big hands and fumbles count.

I cant believe how many put CP down as a favorite already. He hasn't even played a full season as WR. How many receptions does he have? But the man has so much talent, its like the feeling you get with him you get when AD touches the ball. But Cris Carter was 1 million times the WR CP is (so far) and Moss is 2 million times. Unless this is a personality contest.
