The plot thickens. Can't see any other reason to restructure Romo to that extreme.
Hard to put a value on AD.....but as far as getting the most out of Dallas it will certainly help to have at least 1 other team making offers on him. Even fabricated offers if it works.
Twould be hard to watch him play for Dallas...especially if he gives them what we desired outta Hershel Walker.
I know he's one of a kind, but a $13m RB is not a necessity.....so, if it happens and he goes I hope everyone ends up happy.
I'm almost certain there will be 150 more turns to this tale before it's all said and done.
Holdout...meh. The guy takes minimal contact in camp and the last time he played a preseason game was what, 3 years ago maybe? The regular season is all that matters and given his fat paycheck, competitive nature, and shooting for the record books, I don't see much concern.
If Romo restructured for an AD trade then I hope we fleece the heck out of Dallas. I think we're due to be on the long end of the stick of a RB/Dallas trade. A 2nd would be pretty disappointing IMO.

I would want a first and a 3rd. I'd be fine with a 1st and a 4th.
Also: I hate the Cowboys. It would suck to watch him do well for them and have to hear people around here talk about it. The only good thing about the Cowboys are the Cowgirls! Maybe we could trade AD for their cheerleaders?
So let me get this straight, one of the proposals laid out there is for the Vikes to eat 5 million of his salary? Seriously? We have to trade our best player because he's got hurt feelings from the fallout of the mess he created. On top of that in order to accommodate him and his hurt feelings we also get to take a $5 million kick to the groin? I won't even say the 2 words that come to mind.
If that's what it takes I want two 1st round picks flat out. One for the talent, one for the inconvenience. If nobody will give it to me Peterson has two options, Report to camp or Retire. I know it's irrational, but I'd rather he retire and they get nothing instead of getting poor value and looking like suckers who got screwed to appease the person who caused the problem to start with. Especially if he gets to go to a championship situation.
He won't retire though, he won't turn down that much money, and he won't be a problem child in the locker room. I don't think he's wired to take out his frustrations with the front office on the actual team. Dogra at some point will tell him he's stuck and has to make the best of the situation to increase his value for next year in either a trade or a restructuring.
For those wonder how this will effect the Cowboys in the future.
This is Romos current contract
Year Base Prorated Dead Cap
2015 17 10.7 37 27.7
2016 8.5 9.1 19.1 17.6
2017 14 7.5 10 21.5
2018 19.5 2.5 2.5 22
2019 20.5 0 0 20.5
This is after this restructure.
Year Base Prorated Dead Cap
2015 1 13.9 45 14.9
2016 8.5 12.3 31.9 20.8
2017 14 10.7 19.6 24.7
2018 19.5 5.7 8.9 25.2
2019 20.5 3.2 3.2 23.7
I think the Cowboys thing is just people stirring the pot. Romo also restructured last year and had a league high cap hit for this season at $24m+....both news to me.
They needed cap room to fit the roster bonuses of Hardy and Mcain, who was just re-signed.
AD would have to take a huge paycut to play in Dallas, IMO. He may be willing to do that, however. I remain inconvinced that contract money is what motivates him now.

I personally feel that Melvin Gordon would be worth the 11th overall pick, but if someone really wants to move up a few spots sure trade back. But I think there are teams that will not pass on him such as the Chargers at 17, maybe the saints at 13, actually there are quite a few teams that would like a upgrade at running back.
This Video is awesome, he looks like the fastest guy on the field with great vision and amazing cuts. I would really like this guy.
I also think the song in the video is a awesome song for a highlight vid. Most of the time the music for these videos is such garbage.

I think he could be worth the 11th pick and I doubt he'd be there at #27, although there are some other very good RBs in this draft who may still be available at that point (like Coleman. Draft Coleman!).
Gordon will probably have some work to do as a between-the-tackles runner at the next level but his talent is obvious. He's not the next AD but he could be the next Robert Smith for the Vikings.

I think this year more than most years in recent memory is best chance for some RBs to get drafted early. I think this years talent at the position is higher than most years, and the talent at other positions just isn't as deep. With as many holes in the roster that the Vikings have, I would not be super excited to see them take a RB at 11, but I felt sort of the same way back when we took AP back in 2007, after Chester Taylor had just had a pretty good year, now I can barely remember Chester's Name (It took me a few mins to remember) If the Vikes plan is to move on without AP, or even plan on cutting him next year regardless of how this year works out, just due to salary, then I think this is the year to get his incumbent. It would be nice if Gorden or Gurley dropped to us in 2nd round.
Just not as excited this year for the draft as I have been for the past 5-6 years. Not sure whats wrong, trying to fix my excitement level, but nothing is doing the trick.
