I know there has been a lot of speculation regarding this or that aspect of AD's football future. I have not seen anything that said the Vikings were making "at what price" an issue; however, it is reasonable to assume that it is a big factor. But maybe I missed something where something like that was actually said by the Vikings.
I just don't like articles that state some kind of speculation as if it was fact. I would prefer they simply state the "obvious" such that reinstatement before free agency gives both the Vikings and AP more options.

If our front office is smart (and let the Jokes begin!) they wouldn't be saying "at what price" publicly. They probably wouldn't even say it privately, yet. They would just keep hold of that trump card and wait for the opportune time.

I don't see the point in keeping him if we can't renegotiate the contract. He will not win a super bowl with us at $15 million cap hit. We need that money to shore up our O-line and sign more help for our Secondary.
As I've said before - he'll be in Purple this fall - and quite honestly I don't think it's imperative that he renegotiate - we can work with his cap number at least this year

I agree. With him on the books, we still have enough money to draft, resign some key players, and get some low end free agents.
There's been a tactical change in recent weeks. We now know that players, coaches and now the front office are all on board with Peterson returning in 2015. The last hurdle remains the contract and AD himself. And I'm willing to bet there can be middle ground found with the former. That is, provided AD wants to be here. If not, he'll play hardball and could get released as a result. But I'm willing to bet the Vikings would prefer he's in Purple (especially now that the PR nightmare seems to be waning) and if negotiations are to be had, to perhaps pay him a bit more in a restructure than other teams, but not at his current scheduled salary.

It's notable because Warren was rumored to be not-on-board with bringing back Peterson were he reinstated during the 2014 season. Warren recently saw Peterson in court, attempting to have his suspension eradicated. "He's a member of the Vikings family," said Warren. "I just wanted to go up, give him a hug and let him know he looked good." Warren added that he hopes to "win multiple Super Bowls with Peterson," and "attend his Hall of Fame induction" in Canton. Restructure his cap number into a bonus and cut it by 5 million. Or let him play out his deal. There are other salary cap moves we can make and still in great shape if Peterson comes back on his full salary.
At the end of the day, I want this nonsense to end. I am so tired of the speculation.

It's from Chip Scoggins of the Star Tribune. He does a pretty good job of outlining the situation which, in the end, he describes as "complicated".
I agree with HardcoreVikesFan about being tired of the speculation. That said, I found this tidbit interesting from Scoggins' column:
And if Peterson displayed extra motivation upon returning from ACL surgery a few years ago, imagine the anger and determination he’ll carry onto the field this season.
It's something to consider. I think AD will be a "young" 30 and I think he'll definitely be motivated.

While I personally agree and think he'll probably come back with a chip on his shoulder, I could see it going the other way. Coming back from a physical injury versus what I would consider more of a mental injury here (public backlash, being under the microscope in a negative way for the first time pretty much ever, etc) might be different for him.

I guess I see Peterson differently. To me his mindset will be one of angry determination because of being under the microscope, public backlash, and a mental injury.
People may boo him at first. If so, I think that will add fuel to AD's fire.
I don't know if he'll be "angry" (as Scoggins suggests) or not but either way, I expect him to run with great determination, even more than usual and I agree with Craig that after a year away from the wear and tear of an NFl season, Peterson will be a "young" 30.
