Sounds like there could be a Clemmings/Beavers starting tackle duo in 2017....

No, you guys get a 5 minute speech from some arrogant dude that announced himself as a HOFer.

Agreed. If the Vikes had grabbed OL in Rounds 1-2 I would have been happy because with 1st or 2nd round pedigree there would have been a good chance for a clear upgrade.dead_poet wrote: Gross.
To me their roster is already loaded with fringe NFL OL.....so why add another one?

I think you almost always want to go BPA. No, you don't do a Lions thing and grab a top ten WR every year, but pretty near always BPA.halfgiz wrote:Obviously, very interesting we take cornerback in second round a year after taking Trae Waynes in first.
I feel it was more a luxury pick more than a need.
Even though Alexander looks decent l'm not overjoyed. Apparently they figure the upgrades to the OL was enough.
What could Alexander do? Fill in for an injured guy. Period - that's enough value there. My enduring memory of the playoff game last year was that we lost both Rhodes and Waynes (do I have that right?) to injury for a while, and we had to put in Josh Robinson. And only then did Seattle score their ten points, almost all of it directly attributed to Robinson's lack of coverage skills - that's the way I saw it. If we had a guy like Alexander, who is almost certainly better at this point than Robinson will ever be, maybe the Vikes shutout Seattle.
Consider what we are saying here - cornerback is a position of strength with the Vikings? How many years has it been since we could say that? Anyway, many of us weren't big fans of the Trae Waynes pick - jury is still out - and if he doesn't pan out, we'll be really, really happy that we pulled the trigger on Alexander this year.
Of course, maybe they'll both bust, and people will wonder why Rick never did anything to fill the hole at CB.

I was running errands and getting a chicken burrito from Tony's (at the corner of Belmont and Damen—it's a good place!.HardcoreVikesFan wrote:Where is Jim?!

That's definitely a feather in his cap. It probably increased his appeal to Mike Zimmer!Apparently Willie Beavers was dead last in PFF's rankings for offensive tackles!![]()

Don't hate on my Buckeyes. Some of the best Vikings went to Ohio State.
Including now, HOF WR #80 Cris Carter
