Especially our Governor for the last eight years, who's super-conservative politics put us in a GREAT position to get a stadium deal done...especially with everything he did to help pave the road for it.

I wouldn't roll your eyes, Pawlenty did nothing to help any sports situation during his reign. Target Field was approved on his watch, but it took a lot of wrangling to get it that far. I just hope Dayton can see a little past his front driveway (i.e. the Governor's mansion) and work harder on the Vikings Stadium.

Plus, I'm not sure he wants to set that precedent. I look at that as the ultimate last resort, and even then he might sell before going that route.
Assuming (scary) that they get a stadium deal done next spring/early summer (no doubt with a lot of drama, uproar, and special sessions), I'm sure part of the agreement will be a sweetheart deal to the Vikes to play in the Dome another year or two (however long it takes to get the new stadium ready). Wilf will make do with his new sweet deal, knowing he has big money coming with a new stadium on the horizon. He wouldn't sell just because he's still stuck in the Dome another year or two.

This year, with the tiniest window of "kick the stadium down the road to next year" still available, that's exactly what happened. That won't be the case next year.

Well guys, I just do not think we will be getting a new stadium so how about getting together for one last Vikings game before they move to Los Angeles?

Zygi Wilf stressed the #Vikings remain committed to their Arden Hills stadium site, working to have plan ready for fall special session. That jibes with timeline I heard earlier this week. Get plan done in September, be ready for special session on stadium in October.

Zygi Wilf, Lester Bagley addressing Ramsey County leaders in media tent. Bagley says road costs have come down into $100 million range. "We have the framework of an agreement." Bagley said Vikings were disappointed not to be part of the budget special session in their quest to get a stadium. Said Mark and Zygi Wilf met with the Governor last week to discuss the situation. Says deal has to get done to save costs. Project costs would go up $53M if not approved this year, Bagley says. Points out #Vikings would be only team without a lease in 2012. Ramseyco commiss bennett says "we're so close it would be a shame not to get this done."
Ortega says he wants #vikings stad deal done by end of october.
vikings zygi wilf says minnesotans shouldn't be nervous about stadium vote in LA. "We've got momentum here."
VP Bagley says the guv's study will assure less risk for taxpayers.
