Good job Patterson. Way to take advantage of the opportunity that presents itself. :spanking:

zimmer on patterson

this should clear up an confusion about patterson and why he isn't on the field more.

"Unfortunately, this is kind of a broken record," Zimmer said. "I said this a year ago: I have hope for him. There’s times when the proof’s got to be in the pudding. He’s got to do this and if he doesn’t do it then that’s what he’s going to be – he’s going to be a returner. At the end of the day, it’s really up to him."

So basically stubbornness covering up for turner and his inability to adapt. Gotcha

Yep, its all on Patterson. lol. Freaking 13th ranked offense in 2013 with almost the same people, and Cassel/Ponder at qb, to 27th in 2014 and 29th this year, and it's on Patterson. Right

IKR... Nevermind that he has shown that he can take a handoff 75+ yards... he can't run a route... so let him sit on the bench!

No, but CLEARLY he's bad at meetings and has an attitude problem, so therefore he can't take handoffs and do shallow crosses like the other 5 guys, because it's so complicated running 5 yard routes. I know I'm bordering on troll right now but Jesus Christ this offensive coordinator is driving me insane. I don't think there was a single person on this message board that actually liked Musgrave, and he is seriously outperforming this current clown we have sitting up in the booth by leaps and bounds, and people are still hung up on it being Patterson.

27th and 29th people, this year there were three teams worse on offense, and we made the playoffs plus won the division. This team killer they have running the offense, has ran other offenses/teams into the ground before, and he's doing it yet again, and the fact that zimmer and spielman do not see this is frustrating me, I'm sorry.

San Diego is considered a local team here due to distance, pretty much the same from Yuma to SD and it is to PHX. I lived here through Turners Tenure in Charger land. I heard all the radio blurbs, the papers, the articles, the fans calling for his head, the writers nitpicking every one of his blunders, Tomlinson and Rivers calling him out. He is a parasite and needs to go.

I love Cordarrelle Patterson, but FFS, either play the guy or let him go somewhere else. This is ridiculous. Two older man who are set in their ways and philosophy are the reasons Cordarrelle is not playing.

I don't care of the dude cannot run the gamete of routes like Fitzgerald can, he is a playmaker. He needs to be out there.

Yeah! And Joe Webb should be our QB next year! Maybe we could bring Percy Harvin back too! Put Josh Cribbs and Running Back and Devin Hester in the slot! We'd be awesome! Dante Hall could play Center. A three back set with Cribbs, McKinnon and AP would confound defenses to no end! Troy Williamson might have put on enough weight to play TE these days too, who knows!

Its hard for me to imagine that some of you would actually LIKE Zimmer to show complete disrespect for the rest of his team and all the hard work they put in by shoving Cordarelle Patterson onto the field because of his natural athleticism. It would be like the boss promoting the woman in the office with the curvy waist/hip ratio and the ample bosom just because of her curves and bosom. Yeah, everybody else is going to LOVE that.

I don't think that is a fair analogy, unless of course in your workplace scenario physical appearance / sexual appeal gives the team a clear advantage to succeed in the task at hand, in which case, could you question the boss's decision? :P

Patterson has big-play potential anytime he touches the ball. The quandary is this: are his numerous faults/ tendency to make mistakes worth that potential to take it to the house? Zimmer clearly thinks it is not.

if you trust zimmer with how he does his job then trust what he's doing with patterson. just accept that he's a good kick returner and probably has one more chance to show he can be a good receiver.

Lol. Alright bro. Chill the hell out.

I don't think it is too much to ask for the Vikings to implement a few touches a game for Patterson. Five touches in an entire game is not too much to ask for. He obviously has ability with the football. It is foolish to leave him on the bench the entire game.

Patterson is the Exum of the offense.

Yea, he flashes, but the rest of the time he is out of place and clueless to what he is truly supposed to be doing or where he is supposed to be.

I was a big cordarrelle fan until he had like three good games and became "flash". (what a great adjective for his career, so far)

I hope he can become a much better receiver and viking to help this team win on offense.

Regardless of what he does on offense, I feel like the detractors of Patterson seriously undervalue him.... as a returner.

It's kind of amazing how much hate he gets considering he's on pace to be one of the best kick returners, if not the best to ever play the game. In an era where the kick off return has been significantly neutered. I don't care where he was drafted, or what he produces on offense, that is worth a spot on the roster.

With that said, I'm firmly in the camp that he deserves a role on offense. When you're offense isn't producing, and you have a player that can change the game on any touch, it makes absolutely no sense to not give him touches. With that said however, it would be a lot easier if Patterson could just have it "click" and realize he needs to put in the extra time and effort. I'm not sure that will ever happen though, or at least not until he hits a proverbial "rock bottom" and is released or traded, which helps us none. I'd rather just keep him as our kick returner and live with the wasted offensive potential

who in their right mind would trade 3 picks for a glorified kick returner? no one. if he cannot get on the field as a receiver just cut him loose and get it over with already. why wasn't he on the field on offense this entire year? there has to be a reason. from a fan's perspective i would venture to say its his childish attitude. dancing like a moron when were down 30 against seattle. that tells a lot about a person's lack of character when they behave like a clown. and he's done it before how many personal foul penalties has he gotten? a ton.
