Might be looking for one that draft, eh? Adrian is supposed to cost something like $17 million if he's on the roster in 2017.

#Vikings GM Rick Spielman: Trade for Dolphins' 4th-rd pick next year contingent on them getting compensatory pick. 2017 first to allow that

I think it has more to do with a lot of guys on 1 year contracts and a fairly crowded roster.

John_Viveiros wrote:I've usually heard that you discount a pick by one round for the upcoming year. So next year's 3rd and 4th, are like this year's 4th and 5th. Sorry that I can't look up the reference. I heard it so long ago, I just came to accept it as the way they all see it.
That's okay. This is the first time I've heard it! It makes sense. It's a way of accounting for the lost year of player development given up in a trade like this.
Miami's last seven season win totals: 7, 7, 6, 7, 8, 8, and 6. Looks like upper (lower choice) edge of the middle of the round, pretty darn consistently.
Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll go 1-15 next year. :)

Wait, what? So if they get a compensatory pick then we get their 4th. If they don't get a compensatory pick, then what?

Spielman said other factors in the trade were looking at roster next year and he says there is a lot of depth still in the draft this year.
Spielman says he got three players for the price of one in deal with Miami.
"In next year's draft, having an extra 3 and an extra 4, that gives you a lot of flexibility to move around in the 2nd or up in the 1st"
So: Depth of current roster, expiring contracts next year, and depth of next year's class were reasons for trade, per Spielman

He is dick. What he did to Archie Griffin when he beat us that night? Inexcusable.

Overrated QB too. We shut his #### down in the BIG Championship game, yet, he still won the MVP? Straight garbage.

Spielman says the conditional 2017 fourth-rounder will be Miami's lowest pick.
#Vikings GM Rick Spielman: Dolphins' 4th-rd pick next year will be lowest one. If it's compensatory, it'll be that. If not, it's their 4.

I didn't know about that. I just looked it up. That was a dick move! Wow...

That somewhat changes my view of him.

Spielman on no INTS: "He didn't have a lot of balls completed on him, and that's the most important thing."
