We're obviously of somewhat different minds on this. :) I see teaching as the role of the coaches. I'd want my QBs learning primarily from them. If there's something to be learned from each other, great, but to me the whole point of having a quality developmental QB behind Bridgewater is to have someone who can step in and take over the job if things don't work out, short term or long term. That's one of the ways in which I think they went wrong with both Jackson and Ponder and I want to see them learn from it and stop putting all their eggs in one basket.
I don't think we're all that far apart actually. They way I wordred who would be learning from who was not complete.
----
I just see a formula based on the starters length of tenure:
If the starter is less than 3 years established, the backup is a vet who accepts the role and can help in the tuetelage dept.
After that, the starter is the vet and tutor while the backup is a LEGIT prospect picked for his fit in the system as well as his prowess as a QB. If you have a 3rd guy on the roster....maybe another vet? or a Bradylike/late round guy?
----
The coaches are for sure the guys actually teaching the system but the starter is teaching how it's applied on the field by example, as well as all the leadership stuff that he hopefully inherited from the vet who taught him. Like a tradition. The Vikings need to reestablish that tradition at several positions, which to me means the coaches need to be here for awhile.
----

I don't like the idea of a useless 3rd guy either nor would the caliber of guys I'd like them to have last on the PS.
I just am at the point where I'm waiting to see if they can develop 1 guy much less 3 at once. And I wonder if there is a better chance of success when 1 guy is the focus until he is 'the guy'. The whole process seems greatly enhanced when the frachise guy is there....until then it seems like a never ending process of bailing out a leaky boat.
----
Obviously it doesn't count for much other than my opinion....Spielman hasn't even called me in weeks. He's so cold. ;)

But I won't bat an eye if they don't draft a quality QB prospect this year. Bridgewater, Hill player x will work for my concerns that they are taking care of the position for now. What they do once (assuming it happens) Teddy claims the role as franchise guy is when I'm concerned.

I guess where we differ is he eggs in one basket area.
I think having two guys at roughly the same age and experiene leads to problems when both want to start....but i don't know the facts of that for certain

@GoesslingESPN: In brief phone call with Adrian Peterson, he said he wanted to keep details of Wilfs meeting private. Said he's waiting to see what happens.

I'm trying to keep the OP updated as well as I can considering the scarcity of terms for some of these contracts. The cap room and total salaries figures won't be very accurate until the dust settles some. That said, you can see the incoming and outgoing players.

I can't imagine there is much if he's honestly waiting to see what happens. I assume that means he still wants out.....unless, of course, it's all about money, sometimes it's all about money.lol

I'm pretty much neutral on Shaun Hill. He's basically the same quality of player as Matt Cassel, he's a bit cheaper, and we got an upgraded draft pick out of the swap.

I'm happy we're not doing much so far. Let the #### storm play out and then swoop in for some bargains.

That's what I'm sayin' though..."See what happens" can be waiting on what trade offers pop up just as much as it can mean waiting to see if the Vikings restructure his deal for more gauranteed $. Obviously this is just from a speculative point of view, but it's certainly better than "my decision still stands. I want out."

Surprised no one has mentioned Shaun Hill's career coming full circle. Poetic.

It does sound like the "eggs" are the biggest difference in how we view this. :) Thanks for the explanation!

I'd say it's very likely about money. Again, this wasn't likely to be fully resolved in a conversation with Spielman and Zimmer or with the Wilfs. At some point, even if Ad and the aforementioned people all get on the same page, Brzezinski and Dogra will likely have to sit down and finalize a new deal.

Can't say I'm upset, though, I realize that's probably not the majority opinion here.

It would be nice to have him, but it's not devastating. It only seems big because it's March.

Yeah, I'm not crazy about giving a big deal to him - kind of hope we don't.
