Anyway, I singled out Teddy because he made the critical mistake. In that situation his primnray responsibiluty was to make sure they didn't lose the opportunity to attempt the FG. That's situational football. He has to know he won't have much time in that situation and make a quick decision. He can't hang onto the ball that long in that situation.
What are the rules on international grounding in a situation like that?

Then don't call a deep route?

That doesnt really work into his agenda that Teddy lost the game for us.
Don't even start with that BS.

No, I mean theres going to be a SLEW of people posting on how this loss was all on Teddy. Doesnt matter he played a decent game.
This game was 100% NOT on Teddy. Best game all season by him IMO. That last call made me hate Norv even more but he called a good game until that last play. You gotta just throw it away or take a quick out to Rudy. They were trying to throw down field and we didn't need it.
I'd be much more at ease if Walsh just missed the FG than to lose that way.
We outplayed that team tonight. We had 3 FUMBLES and they had no turnovers.
I called it though. I said I had a weird feeling we were gonna stick around this game and I was called "delusional" or whatever it was. We played aruguably the best team in the NFL on the road to a final second drive with our best 3 players on defense out.

Because ultimately Teddy is in control of the outcome. He has to be aware that he can't take a sack in that situation and has to get rid of the ball if there is any pressure at all.

The hit came from his blindside, maybe he should have been given more time to throw by the o line.
If he throws it away nearly instantly and Walsh misses a 49 yard field goal this board would be on him. Kalil whiffed and teddy never saw it coming end of story. Teddy had 1 or 2 bad plays today, you want to blame someone blame our fumbilitis and norv.

It was. But we should have kicked it on 3rd down. If he completes a pass and the receiver doesn't get OB, they'd never get the kick away, and if it's short of a first down, they can't spike it cuz it's 4th down.
All true. That's why it's a "bang bang" play . If the ideal throw to gain yards and get the ball out of bounds isn't there, he has to throw it away immediately.
That was a tough way to lose.

He's in the pocket so the ball needs to have a receiver in the vicinity.

Because I'm talking about the last play of the game... the one that just happened. Why is that a problem?
I feel like Teddy played a great game tonight. Even though you're talking about one play, I feel like your comment places the loss primarily on Teddy's shoulders. I also feel like you've been increasingly pessimistic throughout the course of this season, especially towards Teddy. And if he ever deserved a pass, it was tonight.
But I also see why my comment about not running a play there is the flip side of your statement. I don't particularly feel like discussing it right now.
I'm very, very upset right now. More upset than I have any right to be over a football game, especially a regular season game. I respect you tremendously but I feel like I should refrain from discussing the game too much tonight to avoid emotions from spilling over.

That game is not on Teddy. He played great and I am very critical of him. Just a bad bad bad bad play call at the end

NFL.com just showed a replay of where Teddy was throwing. Everyone was covered. Like a lot. I'm guessing he double-clutched in order to avoid throwing an INT. Looked like they were going for a first down which is probably the dumbest strategy.

I think most of us on this board could feel this result coming before the ball was even snapped. There's no chance Arizona is allowing a catch and a receiver to get out of bounds on that play. The best result was going to be a throw out of bounds. I would say this is hindsight, but I think the majority of people watching the game were thinking the same thing before the play occurred.
This is the reason for my anger. I was yelling at the TV telling the team to just kick the FG. The chances of something hung good happening were so very slim.

They clearly called for a shot deep, teddy had his eyes way down field. I don't know that we had more than 1 guy running a short route near a side line

Exactly, there was pressure up front, the replay will show it. Number 44 from the Cardinals and another Cardinal were up front, he should have thrown it away. He holds on the ball to long, has all year.
