I think it's just a matter of having seen this show before, two weeks and counting having a lingering effect on our general optimism.

This is just like the last two games. Get an early lead, squander it. Settle for field goals instead of touchdowns.
Try to "milk the clock" but don't get the crucial first downs to win the game.
Give them the ball on the last possession with 3 to 5 minutes to get a touchdown to win the game.
