are the vikes a running team, play good defense, milk the clock, or offensive team? they havent been doing great in any category as of late...... even though they are winning and blewout a bad team who had better stats. I guess 5-0 is 5-0 and you cant argue with it. but our defense has problems even against a bad team, AD isnt running well, and Favre isnt exactly lighting it up.

Yes we are a running team, thats why all teams plan to stop our run 1st. No we aren't "lighting it up" because we are becoming well rounded. As far as defense we bend but don't break...yards mean nothing...

Actually, I think AD is running the ball well but he's having to gain too many yards on his own behind poor blocking. He averaged over 4.5 ypc today, which is excellent, but there were too many plays where he had nowhere to go or where the defense was getting penetration into the backfield.

Check out what's on the tv in today's Mother Goose & Grimm comic strip:

Great comfortable-margin win by the Vikes today...I would have been here earlier but my laptop sucks...when Win7 comes out I'm getting a new one. Like Mothman, I'm a little sketchy about the next game with the Ravens, but the fact that it's at the Dome gives us a good chance.

I agree - There were a couple of no gains (or little gains) that would have been a 2-4 yard loss by a "normal" back. His YPC is still pretty good...

i agree. i guess we arent GREAT at anything. but play well at everything.
we have a good pass rush, but our 0-line isnt the best at run blocking. our pass coverage is poor, and our passing game is mediocre. favre doesnt make mistakes and makes the right reads and adjustments unlike tjoke....thats why were winning. i wonder how we will do against a good 3-4 blitzing defense like the steelers and a good o-line like the ravens have?

i just cant believe the horrid rams, ran the ball as well as they did and won the time of possession.

I had a hard time getting real excited by this game with all the other big sporting events here recently. The score was pretty misleading and if the Rams had scored td's instead of coughing up the ball inside the Vikes 5 yard line twice it would have been a much different game. I'm thrilled to be 5-0 of course but have huge concerns about our run defense on the right side. Every team we've played (except the Pack) have had periods where they've ripped off big gains in this area. It looks like Greenway and Henderson just aren't filling that gap like they have the last 2 years. Maybe Pat Williams is showing his age and has lost some quickness laterally too. Now that we'll finally start playing teams that aren't door mats we need to tighten this up. Surely Baltimore and Pittsburgh will exploit this weakness over and over until we prove we can stuff them. I'm not too concerned about AP's lack of production recently - the strategy of stacking the box and daring Farve to throw has worked pretty miserably for them.
With Baltimore losing to the Chiefs and Pittsburgh underwhelming performance against Detroit it makes me wonder how good they really are. The only team I've seen so far playing better than the Vikes is the Giants so I like our chances in these 2 games but they will be very tough.

the ny giants beat 4 bad teams and barely beat a mediocre dallas team. the only team they dominated was the horrible raiders that are worse then the rams right now. i'm not sold on eli and the ny giants as of yet.

I think we are great at the run, as of late you just don't see the numbers but that is because we are so good with AD that defenses are focusing on stopping the run...so it does make it look like we are good at it...you have to look at the big picture.
Our passing game is mediocre? It has won us games and in great fashion, how is that mediocre? because there wasn't big numbers...if you are efficient the numbers won't be big. I wouldn't say its the best but it gets the job done.
We can definitely compete with the Ravens and Pittsburgh...Do we have to be on our game and do better in certain areas? Yes...we will see...those games will tell us what we are.

You can say "if" this or that in any game.
If we scored TD's on 2 more possessions....

i'll be suprised if jared can pressure flacco much. the ravens o-line is very good.
i'm most worried about our pass coverage. i realize favre doesnt have the flashy numbers anymore but were winning....... but we have to play much better against the steelers and ravens.
