What were those Super Bowl Champion Seahawks thinking :? They paid Flynn a whole lot of money and drafted Wilson. They jettisoned Flynn and the rest is history.
I believe that TB will be every bit as good as Wilson and IMO needs to be playing now. If it is the wrong decision then you make the change back to Cassel in the meantime one full year of TB's contract goes up in smoke, what so he can learn by watching :(

Cassel is a great and stable person there as a bridge (no pun intended) to his reign. This (and depending how Cassel plays throughout the season) possibly next year are HUGE for him to develope and be ready to start running HIS team. He knows this team is his when the time comes, and I'm very excited for that. But for right now, I'm excited that we have a stable QB situation with a guy that is smart and knows how to take care of the football.
I just wonder how long it will remain stable.

Did anyone else hear Dick Stockton make a comment during the game that Zimmer had told them (the announcing crew) Bridgewater would be better than Cassel could ever be? I'm paraphrasing from memory but I'm pretty sure he said something very close to that. If Stockton was quoting Zimmer very accurately, that's an interesting and somewhat surprising thing to say about a QB who is currently the backup. It certainly doesn't steer anyone away from QB controversy and I suspect it's the type of thing a less well-liked Vikings head coach would have been blasted for saying.
Ponder would have been so much better (and still can be) with the right coaching and not being thrown out as a starter his first season. QB's need time to grown into an NFL starter. Sure, you get these "flash in the pants" guys that come on strong for a season or 2 (ie: RG3, Wilson, Kaepernick, etc) then start to fizzle out. Look at Rodgers...4 seasons under Favre before starting. And was ready to go and still going strong. I'm happy with the way things are looking as of now, personally.
 "Flash in the pants" is a hilarious typo. That's right up there with some of the typos I've made over the years. :)

I agree Ponder probably could have been better if he'd been allowed to learn behind the scenes longer before starting. That approach can be definitely be beneficial to a young QB, although some don't seem to need it. Whether Bridgewater needs it or not is anybody's guess. All we can do is trust the judgment of the coaching staff on that one but I suspect he's going to see the field sooner rather than later.

While I'll quietly know, that had he started from day one- We would have won the division in 2014
And if Cassel takes us to the NFC championship game??? Will you be eating crow stew? You can't say it won't happen, because no one knows for sure.

Patience, my friend. It's not "one full year" yet, it's one full game. Let's see how things play out. For all we know, Bridgewater will be starting in October but maybe the coaches see some things in his game they want to work out before putting him into the heat of regular season competition.

I would have a heaping pot of it and relish every moment if Cassel or any other QB lead this team to a Super Bowl :D

I don't think ANYONE who is talking about TB learning a bit more before he starts is saying he's not ready yet. He definitely looks like he is more than capable of being a quality starter right away. And if the time comes where he NEEDS to come in because Cassel isn't performing, I'm sure he would light it up. I know that TB is going to be great....well, I shouldn't say I know..but I'm very confident that he is going to be a very special QB. He's not a hybrid...he's a pocket passer who can move on his feet when needed. That's what I love about him.

Regardless...I like our situation this year. We are arguing over who should start between 2 capable QB's instead of #### about not having anyone who can start. We win.

That comment was directed at those proponents that want TB to "sit" a year, watch and learn.

Ah... I see. Well, I think we both feel that's unlikely to happen. :)

It's not that I have a rule where Teddy has to sit a full year, I just feel like Matt Cassel has played well enough that he has earned the right to lose his job based off how this offense performs with him at QB. As much as some people compare Teddy to Russell Wilson, the Seahawks still needed to wait until his second year. If Matt can guide us through this tough early schedule, he deserves to keep the job until Teddy is clearly better, and if we don't fare well then we can give Teddy a chance. The main idea is to buy Teddy a little more time to focus on himself and to let the rest of the offense become a bit more comfortable in the system. It seems to me like that would minimize chaos.

You may be mixing him up with Kaepernick. Wilson started all 16 games as a rookie in 2012.

Sorry, I meant it took until his second year to win the Super Bowl. In essence, I meant to say that even if Teddy is as good as the best example people come up with, players with Cassel's pedigree historically still have a better chance to guide us to the Super Bowl.

Lets not forget Bridgewater was throwing a lot of interceptions towards the end of camp. The offense gets installed in sections so it could be that Bridgewater hit a portion where he needs to work on his decision making. It's really hard to say when you can't see him day in and day out, it could be that they were forcing him to make throws so he understands the smaller NFL windows, who knows. But you can say the same about the preseason, I'm glad he looked great but his reps against 1st team defenses were rather minimal.

Being taken 32nd means he has an extra year on his contract so that's a big mitigant over someone like Carr. There's really no reason to rush him on the field at this point. Maybe in a couple weeks, maybe next year, we'll see. It's obvious he's the long term hopeful but that doesn't mean he's fully up to speed yet.
