I didn't realize it was illegal to respond to your posts. Is it? I guess you'll have to foe me so you don't have to read my meanie-mean posts to you. I don't understand why you are so sensitive when it comes to me...but okay. Sorry. It's in your hands. You're the one always crying about my responses to you.

And I won't apologize for sticking up for Cassel.

You have been foed now I would ask you to do the same. It will save us and the board a lot of useless BS

And today isn't even my birthday. :cheer:

Now back to my point. Not even that Cassel had a bad game, because he didn't, but I think he is going to be allowed a FEW bad games before we see Bridgewater. The coaches obviously believe he is the better choice right now. They seem to be confident in his abilities and leadership. Until that changes, or if we are unfortunate enough to have to deal with an injury, I think Cassel is the guy. I'm as excited as anyone to see Teddy, but as I said, as long as Cassel is out there, that probably means we are still in the hunt. I will NEVER complain about that. Teddy will get his shot. Hopefully it's next season like a lot of us have been suggesting.

If you or anyone else imagine that a journeyman QB will lead this team anywhere near a championship then IMO you are sadly mistaken. If TB is the future of this team then why shouldn't he be playing right now? Cassel had a very average game and was more than fortunate to not have thrown two crucial interceptions. The defense and a spectacular run by CP was the difference in this game.
The Ram's third string QB looked as good or better to me than Cassel. Anyway, Cassel threw some very safe passes and I am delighted that the Vikes won. I am, however, beyond anxious to see what TB can do and the sooner the better.
I hate this "Cassel isn't good enough for us to win a championship" argument. What do you think Ravens fans thought of Trent Dilfer? How do you think Buccaneers fans felt about Brad Johnson? For all the media love Eli Manning gets for his last name, look at what he has been able to do at times. Alex Smith was written off in San Fran and has turned his career around. Not every team has a top 5 QB, and not every contender needs one. What Cassel provides is veteran leadership, an understanding of pro football philosophies, and a rapport with his top weapons. Why is he being punished because the rest of the team produced and we sat on a lead? Isn't that what you're supposed to do?

If he starts playing poorly and we start losing, then yeah, it's Teddy Time. But as long as Matt is leading us to wins, I'm happy to let Teddy learn and EARN the right to start instead of handing him our team based on draft pedigree and fan sentiment.

Why keep pointing out that promoting Teddy right now is a bad idea? Because we have opinions, too, and we don't want your to be the only one that's seen. Same reason you keep posting.

Purple Bruise, you have been responding back and forth with Funk for quite a while. It takes two to dance, so calling her out for responding, in my opinion, seems childish. Thank you for at least foeing her now so this doesn't continue.

I agree with previous posts .. Cassel has been nothing but great for this team..

Last year he should have been the starter after the Steeler's game for the rest of the season.

Until Teddy can beat him out Cassel deserves every Vikings fans total support.
IMO if you can't support a guy like Cassel then you might be better off rooting
for a bandwagon team. Football is a team sport and Cassel is a great team guy,
from everything I have seen.

Great point about Cassel being a team first guy, jackal. He did nothing but what the team asked him to do all year last season, and deferred to Ponder anytime somebody asked him a question. He never complained and always showed back up to work and did everything the best way he could. Let the guy have the chance he deserves.

Nice post. I agree. Cassel has been inserted into the starting QB role for now. I want the Vikings to win, therefore I root for Cassel to be successful.

all you guys aren't even gonna eat crow when TB steps in and LIGHTS IT UP! you guys will be like...
"See, now he was ready..." "It's good that he sat on the bench, now see how good he's playing" etc..

While I'll quietly know, that had he started from day one- We would have won the division in 2014

The Vikes might win the division anyway. :)

This whole Bridgewater/Cassel issue will likely resolves itself.

He hasn't gotten a chance yet? This is his tenth year in the league. He's been a starter for like 5.5 seasons. He played in 9 games last year and didn't play particularly well. He did have a good preseason, but for me, three quarters of good football in the preseason doesn't make up for three consecutive years of poor QB play.

Ponder also "did what the team asked him to do", said all the right things, didn't complain, showed up to work, and did the best he could, but none of those things win football games.

I'm coming into this conversation blind, and I'm sure its already been brought up... Bridgewater IS our future for offense. Cassel is a great and stable person there as a bridge (no pun intended) to his reign. This (and depending how Cassel plays throughout the season) possibly next year are HUGE for him to develope and be ready to start running HIS team. He knows this team is his when the time comes, and I'm very excited for that. But for right now, I'm excited that we have a stable QB situation with a guy that is smart and knows how to take care of the football. Ponder would have been so much better (and still can be) with the right coaching and not being thrown out as a starter his first season. QB's need time to grown into an NFL starter. Sure, you get these "flash in the pants" guys that come on strong for a season or 2 (ie: RG3, Wilson, Kaepernick, etc) then start to fizzle out. Look at Rodgers...4 seasons under Favre before starting. And was ready to go and still going strong. I'm happy with the way things are looking as of now, personally.

Cassel will be the QB until he plays himself out of the job. He will be benched if he starts to consistently make bad throws, reads or mistakes. I don't see the problem. He had Russel Wilson type numbers, very efficient. I don't want to need our QB to need to throw for 300 yards to win. Better yet, he did't fumble or throw an INT. The longer Bridgewater is exposed to the game speed and become accustomed to it, the better. He can get that in practice.
Bridgewater looks like the real deal. As long as we have a veteran playing efficiently, I see no reason to rush Teddy.

That said, I would like to see him in garbage time if the score permits.
