ESPN's Adam Schefter reports free agent G/T Orlando Franklin's deal with the Chargers is for five years and $36.5 million with $20 million guaranteed.
Franklin is expected to play left guard for the Chargers opposite impressive right guard D.J. Fluker. But he's also capable of playing tackle, something that certainly raised his value on the open market.

EDIT: Clint Boling anyone? He's probably the last guy I'd feel comfortable with in free agency to be a potential upgrade as a starting LG. Otherwise Scherf is looking better every day with the gaping hole next to Kalil.
There's nothing to the Kaep rumor. He's not going anywhere.vatusay wrote:Murmurs out there that San Fran is going to make a "shocking" release of a key player today. Kaepernick and Willis have been mentioned.
How big do you think Willis' number would be? He would look darn good with Barr out there.
@NBCdianna: Houston's Andre Johnson will be getting cut today per sources #Texans
Dang, just saw that. The "report" i read was about Justin Smith retiring and that not being the player leaving. Then they mentioned about Kaep and Willis, so player parting ways with is Willis via retirement. My bad. Just went to look at original tweet and it has been deleted.dead_poet wrote: There's nothing to the Kaep rumor. He's not going anywhere.
Twitter is abuzz with news Willis will retire.
From what I've read the 49ers might be losing Smith and Willis to retirement. Nothing confirmed yet, though.vatusay wrote: Dang, just saw that. @RapSheet #49ers LB Patrick Willis is planning to retire tomorrow, sources confirm (as @ProFootbaIITaIk & @Rand_Getlin said). Huge leadership loss
@GoesslingESPN #Vikings still aren't close on a deal with Joe Berger. They're working on one with restricted free agent Matt Asiata, though.
Berger is a key resign, but I am not sure if I want the team to overspend on a 33 year old lineman.dead_poet wrote:

Loeffler is near the bottom of Mel McShay's long snapper rankings due solely to the downward trend of the spin on his punt snap. He's only averaging 7 RPS (revolutions per snap) while the league average is 12. Quite frankly, he's embarrassing himself out there.
@christomasson I'm told Vikings are making a strong push for free-agent guard Clint Boling. He played the past 4 years for Cincinnati, 3 with Zimmer there.
YES!!! I would much rather have Boling than Iupati. He will be cheaper and is better in pass protectiondead_poet wrote:Well good. I was just wondering.
