Yup, and do you really want a guy on the field who is skittish and hesitant all the time because he's afraid of getting hit in the head again? I don't know if he could ever be 100% focused on the game.
It's sad. I would really hope they could find some way to still keep him on the team, like in a pinch hitter/DH role like Thome is doing now. Maybe let him take a year or two off and if he feels good again, ease him back into the game by using him like we use Thome. Until then, we can use Thome.
I think we can all agree that he's likely done for the year. Hopefully he can just take it easy for the next sixth months and get back to full health.

twins are playing some great ball right now. i feel like they are getting better and better every week and i think it's happening at the right time. we actually have a shot at the pennant and maybe even the best record in all of baseball. saw an interview with girardi last night and he said he doesn't think anyone, including the rays or his yankees, is playing better than the twins. i just hope they keep their foot on the pedal and don't let up.

I'm curious... does anyone know why they haven't called up Jacques Jones? He's an extra outfielder, but he has good experience.

Danny Valencia is a STUD. He would get my vote for ROY for sure.

Has he put in enough time to be considered for ROY?
I read an article the other day that basically tried to derail the Valencia love fest by basically claiming that he's just extremely lucky. That could be, but you could also argue that Brett Favre has been very lucky throughout his career as well. It doesn't diminish the accomplishments, but ya it will be interesting to see if Valencia can sustain the high level of play into the future.
here it is:

I'm just happy we finally found someone who can claim 3rd base as his own AND swing a nice bat, instead of the platoon crap-fest we've been subjected to for the past few years. Now hopefully he stays at the hot corner for a decade.

And someone who could supplant Nick Punto. They should look at the Twins record with out Punto, they are practically undefeated. Well, ot quite but you know wht I mean.

Punto has no business on this roster anymore. Valencia is already twice the player Punto is, cuz he can..........you know hit the ball. Anyways, hope Mauer isnt too hurt or our post season ride will be a very, very short one.

Well Mauer should sit for a week. Morales can catch, and honestly Butera is very good defensively, he has a cannon for an arm.
Just no more of this Repko/Revere outfield. Call up Jacques Jones if you need to, but Repko and Revere are nothing but outs, and if Punto and Butera are in the lineup... well let's just say maybe even the Vikings could beat them...

Yea, sitting him would be fine. But then, like you said, the line up has to be juggled. We need somene who can hit, and then we need our starting line up for the last two series, the last one at the VERY least, so they can get back in rythym. I realize we'll make the post season, but wins are still very important. We dont want to face the Yanks first, they have our number IMO. Hopefully we dont have them in the first series, and whoever does, knocks them out, cuz as good as we are, and as hot as we have been, I dont think we can win a series against the Yankees.

i feel like we're gonna play the rangers and let the yanks and rays beat up on eachother. hope so anyway. although i think all three of those teams are damn tough.

Ya, Repko is like the Punto of the outfield. Great defensive player but crap at the plate. Repko seems to make a great play in the field almost every time he's in the lineup (he's got a very nice arm).
I like that guys like Kubel, Span, and Mauer can get a little rest here before the playoffs start. It also lets our bench guys get some reps to get ready as well. Now they just need to figure out a way to give Cuddyer and Young some time off.

I don't think that's possible in the first round. I believe the MLB disallows teams from the same division to play each other in the first round, so Twins will play the Yanks or TB regardless of how they finish. Starting at Target Field would be nice

If the Twins are the #1 seed, they will play either TB or NY, whichever one is the Wild Card. If the Twins are #2, they will play Texas, almost certainly at TF.

Actually, I will toot my own horn...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major_Leag ... ost-season
Within each league, the division winners are the #1, #2 and #3 seeds, based on win/loss records. The wild-card team is the #4 seed — regardless of its record — and is paired against the highest seed outside of its own division in the first round of the playoffs, while the remaining two division champions play each other.
So, there is no way that the Twins play Texas in the first round if TB or NY is the wildcard. In this scenario, if the Twins finish 1 or 2, they will play the wildcard. If they finish 3, they play the 1 seed (unless it's Texas by some miracle, and in that case it would be the 2 seed).
