Completely false. Guys in yhe 4th a lot of times are guys that fall because of how the draft plays out. A run on RBs in the 3nd can cause a 3rd rounder to drop to the fourth. Crap players in the 5th and 6th arent even going to make this roster. We are no longer rebuilding. We are suppose tobe building depth with players that can replace starters if need be.

Once you get deep into the 4th round it becomes more and more of a crapshoot. There is something to be said for increasing your chances by increasing your selections. I like the fact that he traded up in rounds 2 & 3 to get the guys we want and then trading down to get more bodies.

I don't think we need more bodies. I think we need more quality football players, particularly on the OL.

the LB in the 4th is a clone of Michael Mauti who they got in the 7th several years ago

OK, Stephen has look OK at best as a rotational DT

Kearse looked absolutely lost when he played last year. He made Sendejo look like Ronnie Lott
Robinson, maybe he might be OK depth. But you can get starters in the 4th, better than OK depth

No offense, but that's my point. You are an amateur, but Rick is supposedly not. His philosophy reflects a lack of knowledge of talent or confidence in his scouts.

Instead of a stockpile of poop, I'd have preferred one of the OL that were available with the 3rd rounder that he dealt, which later turned into even less valuable picks... etc.

The belief that more picks in the 7th could yeild us better results is silly. The further in the draft the more likely other teams are to draft the hidden gem. Stockpiling crap picks just yive you a chance to fond the gems that every other team completely missed on... extremely slim chance of happening

Mauti was projected a lot higher but he tore both his ACL's and was never the same again, we took that shot in the 7th which was a good gamble, some guys fully recover and some don't.

One good thing about Gedeon is that at least we know the Training Camp rooms will all have a bible in the end table.

This draft has the worst OL pool in years. At #139 the quality OL were long gone and many of those that were off the board went higher than they would have in a normal year.

When you get into the 4th round you're already in hit-or-miss territory. Like Beavers at #121 and Clemmings at #110 and those were in drafts with materially better overall OL depth.

Trading down out of #139 is not automatically a bad strategic move.

Looks like they've addressed the running game yesterday and are addressing stopping the run today. Gedeon looks like a very instinctive player at stopping the run. Can shed tackles. Only started 1 year so hopefully he can improve his coverage skills

I'd have drafted Dorian Johnson, Siragusa, or Julie'n Davenport, myself.

I think with where our roster is at, it is a bad strategic move. It is OK that you have a different opinion, though.

Flawed logic.
If the 4th round lacks talent... you think the 7th round will?
Also, most of these players need to be taught up. Having 1 guy to teach up is easier than 5. You end up not being able to assess the talent of any of them.

Lastly, this draft was low on top tier OL and as a result many werent drafted high but tgat doesnt mean that they average talent in the later rounds dipped. Normally about 5 olinemen go in the first. This year i think only 2 went. That mean the later rounds didnt have their typically talent levels stolen. Teams simply did not over draft.

And for everyone really upset / mad / whatever we didn't get their 4th rounders... it happens every year and most of these guys don't pan out but we never hear any of you go back and say "damn rick must have really known what he was doing cause he didn't take that guy I was in love with that busted out".

Seriously, EVERY year there are guys talked about on this board that slide and slide and slide and yet all the professional GM's are passing on them but its just rick who's an idiot.
