quite bad is an understatement. brady has 9 td's this year and teddy has 1. its not a coincidence why new england has won as many titles as they have. i'm shocked people are happy and optimistic on this board. for what, simply because we are 2-1? that means nothing. this team is going nowhere, especially with aaron rodgers in front of us. a real qb.

1. "Hater" = posters down on a player that YOU don't think deserves the criticism.
2. CP84 is terrible, and that is an objective FACT outside the purview of Haterism.
(I am much too old to use the word hater... I'm trying to figure out the lingo of whipper snappers).

Trae Waynes has been a pro for 3 games. In his 1 (ONE) performance he has looked solid. I reserve judgement on him. Patterson has looked worse and worse, didn't practice with the guy coaches set him up with in the offseason, and is behind Adam Thielen on the depth chart. In addition to all this, he looked terrible (afraid of contact) returning kicks (as he has looked for more that 16 games now). I think there is reason not to be optimistic about Cordarelle Patterson at this point. I am not a knee jerk negative poster.

SKOL!
For real though, there weren't a ton of opportunities for Teddy to put up Brady numbers today. Yeah, he struggled a bit in the first half but he also had Rudolph drop a 30 yard TD and at least two times where a defender sprinted into the backfield untouched on pass plays. In the second half, AD scored right away, then Teddy led them down the field for the TD and comfortable lead. I'm not sure what more you want him more to do today. Once Greenway got the INT return, Teddy was asked to basically do nothing out there.
Would you rather AD take a knee at the 1 yard line so Teddy could throw a TD?
Or how about Greenway gives up on the return so then Teddy can gain some more yards?
We got an awesome win today and Teddy was a part of that. I'm sure we'll get some games this year where we will need Teddy to do big things for us and let's see what happens when we get there.

I just ask that he not throw that horribly inaccurate floating pass where he stays underneath the football. When he does he misses open receivers and throws interceptions.

As far as returning kicks, don't be shocked if he's not active in the coming weeks, he's not looking for the endzone, he's looking to avoid injury.

And you know that how? Last time I checked, he's still one of the best returners in the game

I agree that floater looked bad. CBS showed a replay of the pass and commented that the unblocked defender caused him to throw it like that. Teddy could have made a different decision at that point, though, so he still needs to clean that up. We know he can zip it and throw some good deep balls now so I think that floater is just a wildcard and not the norm.

I'm giving you a hard time, Fiesta, I know you're not a knee-jerk poster. I often like your takes. I also have to say that I haven't been able to see the last two games (out of state and couldn't find an online feed), so I've missed CP's latest tape. I get the frustration, we spent a lot to move up and get him.

From the post-game Q&A with Mike Zimmer:
http://www.vikings.com/news/article-1/P ... fa2a846e09
Q: Was it the plan to have Adam Thielen and Cordarrelle Patterson play that much or was that just a byproduct of Charles Johnson getting injured?
A: It was that and then our guys got a little bit winded at times, so Adam went in there and did a good job, he caught a nice slant. Cordarrelle got a chance to get in there and do something. He was part of the plan this week as well.
Q: Do you expect to use Cordarrelle Patterson more at receiver?
A: Well, he continues to do a good job working and I think we’ll continue to get him in the mix, yeah.

I beg to differ. Here is why. Because this team can win when the QB has a bad day. If Rodgers has a day like Bridgewater had today, the Packers lose. Rodgers is the offense in Green Bay. With out him, they are at most an 8-8 team. This is only Teddy's 15 start. As the QB and leader of the offense he is 8-7 as a starter. Mistakes? Yes he is still making them. Rodgers was not the player he is today in his first 16 games. Now, his stats my not be up there, but he is on the winning side of the ledger. As long as the defense keeps giving up less than 17 ppg, the Vikings will be just fine. (BTW, Rodgers was 6-10 his first 16 games)
And as to why the Pats have won so many titles, it's not because Brady is so good. While he is pretty good, they win titles because they have a top 10 defense in scoring year in and year out. It's a whole lot easier for a QB to win when the other team is scoring less than 17 points per game. Since Belichick became the coach, the Pats Defense has held the other team to an average of 19 points per game. You do that, and you have a 70%-75% chance of winning. The Pats are at 73% during that time. That's just the numbers. It goes for every team, not just the Pats. 17 ppg or less on defense, you have a much better chance of winning.

I'm more curious what Zimmer said about Teddy's performance so far this year. I didn't realize there were more than just me who were concerned.

He can't be productive without opportunities.

I know there's a "chicken and the egg"-style argument there about earning opportunities but I'm not going to get into it again.
It seems to me that he played pretty well in the preseason. He was catching the ball. He burned a DB for a nice TD. He ran a kickoff back for another TD. I don't buy the idea that he's afraid of contact. He didn't look afraid of contact on his first KO return today or on the jet sweep he ran, where he was literally fighting through tacklers to get a first down. I didn't see the return where he supposedly did shy away from contact (I'll have to catch it later) but even if he did, I'd say that was atypical.
He does what they ask him to do and he maintains a good attitude. The Vikes don't seem to be complaining about his attitude or work ethic. On the contrary, Zimmer seems to like it.

I've been very impressed with our pass defense. Rhodes, Newman, Mannerlyn, Waynes, Smith have all been playing great. The only one that worries me is Sendejo. I love when Zim sends Kendricks and Barr up to the line to show blitz. They are both so athletic and fast, they can drop into coverage well or get pressure on the QB quickly.
Our number one issue on offense IMO is losing Sully. Call me crazy but we are CONSTANTLY getting pressure up the middle. Berger has sucked badly. When you get pressure up the middle, it's hell for the QB and Teddy can't drop back with a guy in his face right now.

The play action worked to freeze Ingram on that play. Bridgewater had time but showed terrible mechanics. He's done that 3 weeks in a row. If he can't fix it he won't be the answer at QB for this team.

This team is going nowhere? Hmmmm ok? So are we suppose to be pissed because we're 2-1?? I think this team has a lot of potential and if you remember, Rodgers wasn't a "real QB" for quite a long time before he was ever relevant. We beat Aaron Rodgers with Christian Ponder at QB a few years ago. So what ridiculous logic does your post even have behind it??
