Just released.

Why is releasing him the right thing? Even if he's guilty of the charges? I get that it's the expedient thing to do, but expedience and right aren't necessarily the same. Don't people deserve at least a second chance. At this point I heard he was indicted. That isn't being found guilty.RandyMoss84 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 4:48 pmWhat a sad waste of a first round pick but I have to give credit to the Vikings, they did the right thing and I wish Gladney the best
Abusers do not deserve a 2nd chance, it is like saying a murderer deserves a second chance, that is just my opinionVikingsVictorious wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 5:29 pmWhy is releasing him the right thing? First of all you don't know he is an abuser. He's been charged as being an abuser. If you don't want to give him a 2nd chance then don't be a hypocrite and say you wish him the best.RandyMoss84 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 6:22 pmAbusers do not deserve a 2nd chance, it is like saying a murderer deserves a second chance, that is just my opinionVikingsVictorious wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 5:29 pm

I personally believe everybody who doesn't get the death penalty deserves a second chance. The death penalty should be used for people who don't deserve a second chance. If the person isn't allowed a second chance what's the purpose of allowing him or her to continue living. I don't believe somebody who beat up their significant other is worthy of the death penalty hence that person is worthy of a second chance. People get angry and do stupid things. It doesn't mean they shouldn't be allowed employment.
I called you out for being a hypocrite. That obviously hurt your feelings.RandyMoss84 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 6:51 pmVikingsVictorious wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 6:44 pm

That's why I said it's the expedient thing to do and not necessarily the right thing to do. A big problem with taking employment away in cases of domestic violence is that the couple often stays together, but now they have no income. You've just made the problem worse. What if they have children? Take away employment and they can no longer support their children.J. The Vikings (nor any other team in the league) do not want to be seen as soft on domestic abuse. It’s especially true for the Vikings because of the Adrian Peterson incident with his son. On top of that, the Vikings have the legal right to terminate his contract under the personal conduct clause. The indictment means there is sufficient evidence to charge Gladney with felony abuse and hold him for trial. That’s all the Vikings need.
I’m not saying it’s right or wrong. But I also don’t blame the Vikings for terminating his contract. Allowing him to remain employed sends a message that they care more about retaining the services of a first-round draft choice than they do about domestic abuse — or the woman he allegedly abused. The optics would be horrible.
I have no idea what hypocrite means so it does not hurt my feelings but nice try though! Do not bother responding since you are on the ingore list! LMAO you have me on ignore, but read my post. You're a hypocrite because you say you wish him the best, but he shouldn't be allowed employment. At least not at what he's good at.RandyMoss84 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 9:34 pmI have no idea what hypocrite means so it does not hurt my feelings but nice try though! At the end of the day, most people don't want a guy who beats women on a team they cheer for and the Vikings know that. Not to mention he is a massive distraction that will hurt the team this year if the Vikings had kept him around. From a business and team standpoint he was just not worth the PR nightmare and the distraction he would cause.J. The move in the end is public relations driven but it's not as if the Vikings jumped into action here. This is four months later. It was spurred on by the fact that he was actually indicted and so there will be a trail, lots of publicity and distraction, etc. I imagine an organization with the resources the Vikings have also did their own private investigation, came to their own conclusions, and decided he was guilty enough that it outweighed his value as a 1st rounder.J.
