With Mckinnon in the fold and AD playing for them next year (as you mention) , there is no chance the Vikes would draft another back unless one "fell" into their laps IMO.

I think the difference is, there are a lot of good back in this draft. And 2 elite ones that would take our 1st pick. No sense in them sitting behind AD for years. Plus I don't think we need a 1st or even 2nd round pick to have a good running game. It would be more important to get a good guard to run behind imo. But I still think WR is the way to go. Even if its Parker, or later, White. A healthy Kyle would help, but that not likely to happen. Hes more injury prone then Rice was.

The guy who led the league in yards per carry this season is a 7 year vet, a 7th round pick and was out of the league for a bit before this season.
The Vikings better fix their offensive line woes and get serious about stopping the run.
With the 11th pick they are guaranteed a shot at the best player available at a few positions. Assuming they don't trade down( I kinda hope they do) I'd be surprised to see them take a RB with that pick regardless of what happens with AD.

As I have mentioned before, I don't see them taking a RB with our first pick. Unless maybe we traded down and took Gordon. Outside of that, I think it's a must anywhere between rounds 2-4 which is where Coleman and Gurley should be sitting. If we go with stud WR and stud RB with our first 2 picks, I think you will see drastic changes with offense. Even if we go WR and RB within our first 3 picks. I think that would be more ideal. Go WR then CB or OG then RB. Although I can't see Zimmer drafting 3 offensive players with his first 3 picks. Which is why I think CB or LB will be in the mix somewhere depending on what we do in FA.
As for WR, it's either Cooper or Parker IMO. I'm not a fan of White at all. He literally disappeared in about 4 games this year. I still think he needs a lot of work. More of a project IMO. If we miss on the big 2, I would much rather wait a round or two and go with Strong, Montgomery, Green-Beckham or Algholor. Just because we need a WR doesn't mean we need to take one in the first round

I kind of feel that way about White too. He's like CP, would need a lot of work. I also think he is going to be a stud.
If we managed to get Cooper/Parker and Gurley, that would be nice. Would be easier to let go of AD if that's what the FO has in mind.

He'll whine his way out, like he's already been trying to do for years. And Spielman will get whatever he can for him, and be named a genius for it.

Honestly, man ... is there anybody associated with the Minnesota Vikings you don't hate?

I don't think the Vikings are going to drop AD, and I think we are going to see an extremely angry monster on the field next year.
Anyone else get this feeling?

Yes!
Been saying that all along. I do not want to see him run rupshot on the league in another uniform next season.
In all honesty, I think not only is he still more than useful as a RB, but it would serve Teddy better to have AP in the backfield. This team is very young. They can still pay AP for another year.

All I can think about is how much pressure AD could take off Bridgewater, the fact that Teams will have to play to stop AD again and then find themselves being scorched by our 2nd Year QB who shows a LOT of promise. I say let's draft O. Line and WR's. Beef up the line and show them we have a definitive chance at being a very threatening team next year. Of course this is all hopeful thinking!

You can't franchise him when he is under contract.

Yeah, I guess I should have clarified that a bit. I don't see him getting paid 15 plus million for years to come. I see one more year at best. It's a different story if he restructures. However, McKinnon is not a primary back, he is a complementary back. We still need someone to carry the load. This all falls into the crap shoot of who will be there at the spot we pick which will be debated until draft day.
One caveat, I love Gordon but am cautious about him. Most backs out of Wisconsin don't do great in the NFL. Product of a run first and throw only when necessary offense. I know, I'm a Badger fan.

Teddy must be drooling over the idea of handing the ball off to AD, and it saves us from going after the big picks of Gurely or Gordon (although what a replacement Gordon would be!) and lets us pick the big name WR.
YES!
AD back
Teddy B a year older, great experience, hopefully bulks up in the offseason
Add Parker in Rd1
Add in another year of the defense learning Zimmer's system.......PLAYOFFS!!!!!!!!!!!

bottom line is peterson has to want to be here. if the most money and the chance to play with a young improving qb isn't enough then get what you can for him. i have no clue how a trade would work with his salary, but if we could get a young defensive player like a morris claiborne from dallas and a 3rd or 4th rounder i'd take that. just guessing though
