Re: Your Worst Move As Vikings GM
I'll make a list of moves I would have made.
-I wouldn't have traded Moss in '04
-I still would've taken Josh Robinson instead of Russ Wilson
-Would've taken Jimmy Clausen instead of Cook
-Badly wanted to sign Sidney Rice in 2011
-wanted Gabbert after he was slipping, however since he was gone I would've taken Robert Quinn
-I wanted to trade for Jay Cutler
-I would have absolutely hired Mike Zimmer
-Would have drafted Tom Brady in the 3rd round of the 2000 draft (ok this one was a lie)

Yes, to the 49ers, would I be happy.King James wrote:I would've trade Peterson after his phenomenal MVP season for draft picks. Hell I'd still do it now.

Re: Your Worst Move As Vikings GM
I'll confess that as a fan of good defensive play I wanted the Vikings to address the terrible defense at the end of 97. The Vikings took a receiver at #21 in the draft that year, and I actually made the comment: "I hope this Moss guy can score a lot of touchdowns, because they're going to need them." I just felt that addressing the offense with the 1st round pick was flawed. (Of course we know what Moss subsequently did and how the 98 season turned out). I have stopped making draft recommendations since '98.

I've told people a million times not to exaggerate!

You mean the season that the NFL decided to not have a Super Bowl?Just Me wrote:Of course we know what Moss subsequently did and how the 98 season turned out).
The Devil whispered in the Viking's ear, "There's a storm coming." The Viking replied, "I am the storm." #SKOL2018
Re: Your Worst Move As Vikings GM
The Vikings should have gone to the Super Bowl that year. If you watch the field goal kick that Gary Anderson missed you will see that the referee failed to flag one of the Falcons for roughing the kicker. Should have been a 5 yard penalty and retry.PurpleMustReign wrote: You mean the season that the NFL decided to not have a Super Bowl?

Like the OP, I was very pissed when they took AP over Brady Quinn. Thought he was going to be the future

I'm a huge Notre Dame homer, so I, along with many, would have taken Brady Quinn over AP. We had Chester Taylor on the roster and nothing at QB. AP had an injury history as well. I hated the pick at the time. I also would have taken Jimmy Clausen. I'm sure if I followed the draft as a kid I would have wanted to make a Hershall Walker type trade to draft Rick Meier.
I was literally screaming on the ground in a fetal position when they took pothead Percy. The morning of the draft I told my GF 'anyone but Percy Harvin.' I feel somewhat justified, as he's spent more time on the trainer's table than on the field, even if he is electric when healthy.

That's true, but they smart enough to not get caught. Percy should have known he'd be under a microscope considering how much research is done leading up to the draft. It's not that he's a pothead, it's that he didn't seem to care if he got caught.Purpnation wrote:
Now, now. Nothing wrong with being a 'pothead'. In fact I'm fairly sure there are plenty NFL players who haven't stopped smoking bud since they got drafted.

Damn straight, but at the same time I almost feel like he was in a catch 22, what with all those migraines of his it was almost hard to blame him. But yea, you gotta be smart about it. It infuriates me that players from states where it is legal (Broncos, Seahawks) aren't allowed to toke up, I mean, wtf is the reason for it? Outside of good ole fashioned ignorance of course.

Re: Your Worst Move As Vikings GM
My worst GM move would have been to sit Brady after his first superbowl for Drew Bledsoe. I thought he just got lucky and was overated at the time. I still Believe the NFL overates Brady and Peyton manning in order to draw in more fans. When manning gets 3-4 rings then he can maybe compare to Montana and Bradshaw. Without the SB rings it's just all Hype. How can manning be rated the best Ever if he Loses in the clutch a lot? Winning in " The Moment" is a big part of "Being Great" to my mind.

Because he's better than Bradshaw and Montana at every aspect of the position and has the stats to back it up? Bradshaw isn't even top 10.Laserman wrote:My worst GM move would have been to sit Brady after his first superbowl for Drew Bledsoe. I thought he just got lucky and was overated at the time.
