He nearly beat Georgia, the SEC East champions, single handedly. He's an absolute athletic freak. And for all of you who doubt the quality of competition he faced, go look at the draft. The SEC, especially defensive players in recent years, dominate the NFL. Why do you think our conference has won the last seven consecutive national championships? And even on the worst team we had in school history, CP was one of the top players in the top conference this year. Yall can all eat humble pie when you go on NFL.com and buy the Cordarrelle Patterson jersey next year...And as far as the IQ and maturity stuff goes, our coach at UT last year was an absolute, negligent doofus. Derek Dooley lost his job for a reason. Give CP Leslie Frazier and he will be straightened out in days if not hours...Go Vols and skol
Holy moly! Another SEC fan! Very cool.
You're right about both Patterson and the SEC. Patterson faced and succeeded against the best defenses in the nation.
Patterson is a beast!!!! I dont know what highlights you guys are looking at but the guy has enough speed to get separation and he has that acceleration to blow past the defender once the ball get in his hands. Not to mention he is VERY hard to tackle because he is so elusive. And he's freakish so a smaller corner will have trouble taking him down.
Not to mention he's going to learn from Greg Jennings, so the kid is heading down the right path!

Come on really? You do not see why the wonderlic was mentioned and it's correlation between intelligence a player's intellect and his ability to become a good NFL player?
You made the snide remark about him going to a JUCO and "them brains".
If you do not like the pick, or the player, or Spielmen then thats up to you but I do not see why you have to "go there" with trying to bash the player's "brains" (no pun intended).
Do not mistake KINDNESS for WEAKNESS!
Best to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool rather than open it and remove all doubt.

tavon Austin is more pro ready but he is more of a slot receiver, special teams. Patterson has more potential, he could do it all. I will take potential over a mediocre pro ready wr like keenan allen .

I thought about Tavon Austin and no doubt that he would've been a great addition as well. Me, personally I wanted Allen or Patterson because I think we needed a bigger WR. Now Patterson is a better choice merely because he has the potential to not only dominate on special teams but as a every down WR. He can go deep and take the short passes so its a win-win for Christian Ponder.
I think with Jarius Wright, we didnt need a Tavon Austin because I see him as a slot WR as well. The Vikings needed a dynamic player. Someone who could play all over the field. I dont know if Austin can play all over the field like Harvin did. He just have Harvin like speed from what I can see.
In my opinion I think I'd even rather have Patterson over Austin. I just don't think Austin is going to survive very long at that weight. Maybe he's a better Welker though and can stay healthy.

Slander! LOL! Talk about idiotic statements.
So Cordarrelle Patterson isn't the brightest bulb. Big deal. I'm sure there are dumber players in the NFL. We all know it doesn't take a genius to catch a football.

No, but it does help to keep track of your responsibilities. And hot routes. And a number of other things not being a mental midget can help with, But hey who needs any of that, he's fast!
And obviously no homerism going on. The guy single handedly beats SEC teams week in and week out. Eats them for breakfast.
I'm just amazing he made it out of the top 5. Don't worry about the fact he's mentally deficient. A project. No real college experience. He's a BEAST!

It is said that one of his strengths, is recognizing hot routes.

I'm sorry, but this was hilarious!
As far as Patterson, I have never been so excited about a pick in my life. Not many of the fans stuck around after our two picks. Maybe just a couple hundred people. My friend texted me and said ESPN (we were tuned into NFL Network on the big screen) was saying we were going to trade with the Pats to move up to get Te'o. I wanted to die. LOL. Anyways, a few seconds later, Paul Allen announces it and the crowd goes nuts. Eventually it shows up on NFL Network and we were all extremely anxious. The media was ramming Te'o down our throats (as usual), and Paul Allen was like "no no no, I think this is a WR. I think it's Patterson." We were told Spielman and Frazier took off running after Hopkins went off the board in a panic. I mean, we were all finding this out as it was happening. We couldn't even contain ourselves. The suspense was ridiculous. lol. Then what seemed to be TWENTY minutes later they finally announced it, and I was PUMPED! Got a freakin' stud AND dodged a bullet. WHEW! It was extremely exciting. I couldn't have asked for a better draft day experience. Getting Patterson was just the icing on the cake. And just listening to him talk, he seems genuinely excited to be a Viking. He's ready to work. He seems confident and eager. And, he idolizes Randy. If he's half as good as Randy, I'll be okay with that. I'm just excited about this guy. Ready for our new number 84!!!
