MY standards, as a committed fan who pays out thousands of hard earned dollars to see THIS team annually, are way higher than dumpster diving refuse like Ponder/Webb....they are a laughingstock.....we are debating the virtues of DUMB vs DUMBER and its pitiful.

And neither was Check Down Charlie. Feel free to book mark this thread and bring it up when he is no longer the starter for the Vikes in the 2014 season. He gets a pass next year because of one game. Wow, he is impressive.
The exact same thing can be said about Joe Webb. He had one good game against the Eagles in 2010 and many thought he was the franchise's savior.
I will gladly be ready to eat any crow should Ponder suck ####. I just hope you will be willing to do the same if the inverse is true.
A Randy Moss fan for life. A Kevin Williams fan for life.
he was throwing the ball into the dirt on wide open recievers with no pressure on him!! Did you really watch the game? He had alligator arms the whole time....he had a whole season as the #2 QB so he KNEW he might have to go in at ANYTIME......there is NO excuse for his piss poor passing.
THAT is the more disturbing issue.....my kids could have watched Webb during this season and seen that he is not meant to be an NFL QB...so why did our coaching staff sit so satisfied for an entire season with him on the bench just one play away from stepping in at QB?????? It makes no freakin sense.
Let's hope there's some change through personnel meetings.

He should be able to come in at a moments notice and keep the offense moving. That's his job. I think it was obvious that Webb was not ready to do this. But it's also obvious that Webb is still raw and cannot sustain a passing attack. Either Musgrave should've implemented an offense specifically for Webb (which I thought we got a glimpse of on the first drive), or they need to find a competent backup. So yeah, Webb deserves criticism for not being able to run the offense, but the staff is also to blame for not recognizing Webb's limitations. Why did they force the passing game on him?
Because you can't win in the NFL without it. It's that simple and as I mentioned earlier, for all we know, he looked good executing the same plays in practice and just failed to execute when it counted.
Installing a new offense just for Webb on a short week just doesn't seem feasible to me. As you said, he's the backup and he needs to be able to step in and run the offense when called upon.

Not just the coaching staff. This blunder should be pinned on Spielman as much as anyone. Great draft, Rick. What else ya got?

The fact is, no one knows how good or bad he would be if he was given the same opportunities as TJ or Ponder.
I can say one thing, he looked pretty good when he was running. 7 for 68 doesn't sound like a joke to me. I don't know why they forced the passing game on him.
The Redskins last season was the only 'same opportunity' scenario.

No one saw Webb during the season, only the coaches during practice.
A successful coach needs a patient wife, loyal dog, and great quarterback - and not necessarily in that order.
Getting here late but adding my 2 cents. As a Joe Webb fan it really sucked to see him play so miserable. I had hopes that with a year at the #2 position he just might have continued to develop from the last time we saw him to at least give us a chance. Unfortunately he blew it, and while the odds were against him in the first place, that performance warrants we find a new #2 ASAP imo. He simply isn't going to work out, for whatever reason.
I think a new AV might be in order. Joe got loose and well, it didn't go all that good. I'm beginning to believe that both and Ponder would have been helping with a different OC/QB coach.
Suggestions?

The OC/QB coach aren't the problem. Webb is a bum. And Ponder is below average. It doesn't matter who their coaches are...
