Wow! What a game! I didn't think the Twins had it in them, but they never gave up.

Twins magic number: 2

Wait wait wait wait wait Magic Number 2?

Woudnt it be 3 because both teams have 3 games to go. Were only ahead by 1/2 game which means example we win 2 and lose last game and white soxs sweep indians they win by 1/2 so woudnt we have to win out to for sure be safe unless sox lose?

Oh, I don't know. I was just takin' a guess! :)

If the lead is 1/2 game after Sunday's games, the Sox have to play that one makeup game against Detroit. So, there would still be a possibility of a tie.

I'm hoping it won't come down to that. If the Twins win one more than the Sox this weekend, then there won't be a need for that makeup game.

Wow!! Wow, wow, wow!!! What a great team effort. Morneau, Kubel, Young, and Cuddyer went 0-15 and the Twins still won. This group of piranha's is even morre deadly than the last bunch. What's more, they are playing their game, with great confidence.

Go Twins, three more to go!!

The Twins magic number is 4.

If the Twins win the same number of games or 1 less against KC as the Sox do against CLE (which ends up with either team 1/2 game up), the Sox have to play the makeup game against Detroit. If the Sox win that to tie, there would be a 1 game playoff, if they win that to take a lead, they'd win the division.

If the Twins win more games against KC then the Sox do against CLE, the Twins win the division.

If the Twins win 2 less games against KC then the Sox do, the Sox win the division.

This is going to come down to the wire.

What a trip this is! The Royals are sending their best pitchers to the mound tonight and tomorrow, two who have given the Twins fits in the past.

Didn't they used to have head-to-head as a tiebreaker for Division Title? I remember the Twins HAD to finish one game up on Detroit in 2006 in order to win the division because Detroit won the head-to-head. Did they change that or something?

Last nights game was so fun to watch. Even down 6-1 I had a bit of hope. This is one scrappy team. I hope we carry the momentum over to the KC series.
I dont have a lot of faith we can make too much noise in the playoffs, but it'd sure be fun to get proven wrong. The Twins have sure made the time between Sundays alot more fun, still favor watching the Vikings, hopefully both teams have an excellent weekend. :beerchug:

They always play a 1 game playoff if it's one team in, one team out. They'll use the h2h tiebreaker if both teams are in and it's just a decision between who wins the division and who gets the wild card. That was the case in '06, as the Twins finished a game up, but Detroit got the wild card. The Yanks and Sawx finished in a tie in '05. Yanks got the division, Sawx got the wild card on the tiebreaker.

Its always been a playoff, unless both teams would make the playoffs anyways (if the loser would win the wild card.) Then they use a tie breaker to decide the division winner.

Man the Sox keep giving us opportunities to take this division, we just cant seem to do it. Hopefully Perkins has a good game and our bats wake up today. I have a feeling the Sox will win today, their manager was pretty brutal towards the team last night in an interview.

They sweep the Sox, then lose badly to KC. They are so lucky that Chicago lost. I can really see the Sox having the last laugh by beating us in a one game playoff if it comes down to that. I really hope it doesn't come down to that.

The Sox have had their chances to end this race for the past month. It will come down to the playoff game, I think. Unless, of course, Detroit can beat them on Monday first. :)

Two in a row blown to the Royals. Key double plays to Morneau and Mauer down the stretch with runners in scoring position.

Are the Twins trying to maximize torment to their fans? If so, they're succeeding.

Go Tribe!
