Vikings @ Lions Game Day Discussion Thread -- Thanksgiving

Once again our lack luster offense lost us the game. I don't blame Shurmur or Bradford. I still blame the o line. Shurmur understands that we can't protect Bradford and he is stuck with the short passes. Bradford drops back for the deep pass and he is sacked.

Mental mistakes added to the loss today. We deserved to,lose, but it's still on the O line imo.

I don't blame Bradford per se, but he did little to force the defensive backs to worry about getting beat ovrer the top. If a pro offense can't find ways to threaten the deep 3rd of the field good luck. Defensive backs at this level will eat your lunch.

I've watched a lot of Bradford over the years living in St. Louis and being a Rams fan until they left. He always checks down. He was called Captain Check down by many fans here. He did the same thing in Philly. I get that the oline is garbage and Diggs was out but why can't they ever keep in an extra blocker or two and throw a bomb? When defenders don't respect your deep passing game because you won't even try to hit a long one you get interceptions like the one that lost this game. High completion percentage of passes that go 3 yards or less are not impressive.

Sorry but ill take losing a playoff game over being a playoffless loser anyday.

Playoffs are great when you have a team that stands a chance, this line will get completely embarrassed by a playoff caliber defense. I've been a Viking fan for too long to give a damn about getting there.

That's true, but even if they hadn't suffered an injury to OL, they would still be terrible, which almost takes planning to put together such a terrible group.

Not an injury, they've had an injury at every single position. Lost five tackles. FIVE.

Would they have been great with the original line? Doubtful but I bet they win this game. Even without Diggs and Peterson. Which shouldn't be discounted as well.

I've watched a lot of Bradford over the years living in St. Louis and being a Rams fan until they left. He always checks down. He was called Captain Check down by many fans here. Do you realize that I can think of 3 fanbases in this decade alone that said the exact same #### and then won the SB?

Flawed and incomplete teams win the SB often enough.

Team makes too many mistakes which are brutal when we can barely get yards. That delay of game at the end was terrible, and why the hell did we blow a timeout there before the last drive? I don't know if it's poor coaching or what.

Well, it wasn't a delay of game, it was an illegal formation but still a stupid penalty. We called a timeout probably to give the replay officials more time to review the turnover to see if the ball came out before he was down. But all turnovers are reviewed so they had already ruled he was down before the ball came out so IMO it was a wasted TO.

Bradford lacks courage and composure. He's in a tough position right now, but, under Norv, he compounded the problems. Now we're trying to coach around them with quick passes to hide the warts of Sam and the OL, but he's still lousy in the pocket. There's no making up for that with a quick release and accurate passes. He's just a solid backup QB at his best.

Sorry wasn't very clear there. The delay of game was earlier before that drive. We also took a timeout before our last possession started before lions kicked it to tie 13-13. Maybe we needed to stop the clock there now that I'm thinking about it.

There are flaws, then there is the smoking hole in the ground with turnstile at each end that pretends to block for the Vikings. I understand what you're saying but it takes an absurd level of positive thinking to believe this offense can limp into the playoffs much less win against healthy playoff teams.
