I still think the Vikings would sign a two year lease in the Dome or at TCF if needed. I just hope it gets done.
Oh absolutely. The "we won't sign an extension" piece goes away if there's a new stadium deal.

Hypotheticaly speaking lets say Ziggy gets his Stadium. Does he sign a 2 year agreement with the Dome or TCF for the years we need for it to be completed? Now lets say the new Stadium is open air, does that change were Ziggy wants to play? I am guessing he would sign to play in the Metrodome as thats were he makes the most cash. But i think it would be cool to play in TCF for 2 years than go into the new Stadium. This is if its going to be an open air one.

It might also depend on where the new stadium is - if they use the metrodome site, that will force the use of TCF

The last paragraph is encouraging as is the proactive attitude on the timing. The roof is a potential snag, the Vikes need to cave so the parties can focus on big picture stadium issue and not be derailed by open air nonsense.

Again, my biggest concern is time, can a new stadium be built by the start of the 2012 preseason? It seems to me that we are seriously behind the 8 ball. Dallas Cowboy Stadium took 4 years, Lucas Oil stadium took 3 years, Gillette took 2. I just don't know, I don't see it unless it involves using the existing Metrodome in some way.

If they were breaking ground today (or starting demo on the Dome today), they'd have a shot at 2012. But they're at least a year off of that. They need a plan, they need funding, they need an architect, they need a site, etc, etc. Lots of preliminary work prior to construction is not done yet.

Saints, Cards, and the Colts come to mind just for recent history.

They're looking at an area in Arden Hills.

Ramsey County says they're willing to help pay if it is in that area.
http://minnesota.publicradio.org/displa ... s-stadium/
"Ramsey County commissioner Tony Bennett said he told the team a 430 acre tract of unused property near Interstate 35W and Highway 10 would make for a great site if they move out of the Metrodome and stay in Minnesota. Bennett said Ramsey County is willing to put some money into the project, but he won't say how much yet. "

i've said it the whole time and i still believe it...the vikes aren't going anywhere. be nice if things moved a little faster but i would bet money that within a month from now a plan is in place for a new stadium IN MINNESOTA.
let's hope i'm right.

I say go for it. At this point, any place they put it in the lower end of the state would be a good spot. It's too bad it wouldn't be right in the heart of Minneapolis, but hey, what are you gonna do?

That'd make too much sense. Zygi and the Vikes probably wouldn't go for it.
Need to shoe horn another stadium into a place with no business having one to guarantee hard to find parking and absolutely no tail gating.
