Antoine Winfield - DB - Seahawks
CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the Seahawks are preparing to release CB Antoine Winfield.
Per La Canfora, the Seahawks may dangle Winfield as trade bait on Saturday, but in all likelihood will end up severing ties. The Seahawks are a strict best-player-plays team -- that's Pete Carroll's mantra -- and they are excited about Walter Thurmond III as well as Jeremy Lane behind starters Brandon Browner and Richard Sherman. The Redskins and Vikings hotly pursued Winfield back in April. The Broncos were also rumored to have interest.

Agreed. Let's get him!Just Me wrote:Our defense has always been a "notch better" with Winfield in the game. I would love to see him back where he belongs
Yeah Robinson and AJ back there give everyone confidence in the nickel. Maybe Urlacher can play the slot?Demi wrote:No thanks. We're rebuilding. Already signing enough old players. See what we have at the position and try to develop some of what we already have...

Who knows, maybe someone will step up? They won't when they never get a chance because a 36 year old smurf is handed the job well into what should be his retirement. They'll probably bring him back, because he's better right now this year than the alternative, and Spielman seems to think that's how you rebuild a team. By filling the roster with 30+ year olds, and trying to fill positions with draft picks as they are needed.PurpleKoolaid wrote: Yeah Robinson and AJ back there give everyone confidence in the nickel. And yet Manning would have helped us with Ponder?Demi wrote: Who knows, maybe someone will step up?
